Voter fraud is, for all intents and purposes, practically nonexistent. The best available research on the topic, by Loyola Law School professor Justin Levitt, found only 31 credible incidents of voter impersonation in an investigation of over 1 billion votes cast.
But that hasn't dampened Republican efforts to pass a spate of strict voter ID laws since 2008. And it hasn't hurt the public's overall enthusiasm for those laws, either.
But the results of a new working paper from political scientists at University of California, San Diego suggest folks may want to consider. The researchers analyzed turnout in recent elections -- between 2008 and 2012 -- in states that did and did not implement the strictest form of voter ID laws. They found that these laws consistently and significantly decreased turnout not just among traditionally Democratic-leaning groups, like blacks and Hispanics, but among Republican voters too.
The findings are notable because they're some of the first using data in elections that took place after some states implemented photo ID requirements to vote. Previous studies on the effects of these laws showed mixed results. A 2014 report by the Government Accountability Office examined 10 of these studies. Five showed no significant effect of voter ID laws on turnout, four found a significant decrease in turnout, and one found, paradoxically, that the laws increased turnout. ...

Well the only way a democrat will enforce or change a law is if it retains their power or gains them power.
If every conservative voted 10 times for a conservative in the next election the next morning the democrats would be scrambling to introduce voter I.D.
I was pointing out how the democrats thing, i know we would not break the law. Dems benefit from THEIR people voting more than once, if it was a liability for them they would be squealing like pigs.

Well sweetie, you just keep on not getting the point.
Every time I turn around, someone is asking me for a photo ID to prove who I am: bank, S&L, stores (to cash a check), to fly, to board a cruise ship, etc. However, bring up a photo ID for voting and it's somehow racist? How is that? Explain that to me.
Our electoral system depends on honesty and if a photo ID weeds out: 1) phantom voters, 2) multiple voters, 3) ineligible voters — I am all for that because it demonstrates the integrity of the voting system. However, it also means that the Donkey Party and RINO enablers cannot cheat like they regularly do. That is just to damn bad in my book.
These people need an ID to cash their government checks at their local liquor store, or check cashing establishment!!!

Precisely! Seriously, I think we conservatives should start a campaign that every time we deal with a government bureaucrat that asks for any form of ID that we immediately call them racist and tell angrily that they are disenfranchising us!
The only voters discriminated against by photo ID voting are cheating voters.
