Switzerland: Pupils sent home for wearing "racist" tradition Swiss Edelweiss shirts

Ten pupils at a secondary school in Gossau turned up for their lessons wearing an edelweiss shirt on Friday. A teacher was very unhappy at the sight of this typically Swiss clothing; he asked them to go and put something else on. According to the "SonntagsZeitung", the teacher considered that this manner of dress conveyed "racist and xenophobic" ideas. The ten pupils decided to come to school wearing peasant shirts and to sing patriotic songs to show their "pride in being Swiss". Tensions with classmates of Balkan origin are said to be at the origin of this initiative, reports the German-speaking weekly.

The school's headmaster is trying to calm things down. Patrick Perenzin points out that peasant shirts do not violate any institutional dress code and that they are not forbidden. But he adds that, in his view, the ten pupils behaved badly. When worn by one pupil, this clothing is not insulting. But when ten pupils decide to wear it at the same time, they are trying to "send a message", says the headmaster.

For God’s sake, Mr. schoolmaster, don’t let ‘em “send a message”!

Same thing happened 3 years ago in Morgan Hill, Calif:

Two high-school boys showed up at school on Cinqo de Mayo wearing American Flag T-shirts —their principal sent them home.

“Via their t-shirts the boys were fostering a combative atmosphere...” It provoked a HUGE uproar and lawsuit.

The Supreme Court ruled in favor of the SCHOOL.

Seems most Europeans these days would rather commit (literal) suicide than exhibit or allow national/cultural pride. Their fear of being perceived as racists overrides all else. ALL else.

when ten pupils decide to wear it at the same time, they are trying to "send a message", says the headmaster.

Indeed they are. And if European nations don't heed that message, they'll all have crescent moons on their flags in less than a generation.

The ruling in favor of the school came out about 18 months ago, maybe 1 year.

I have to allow that it could have been the California Supreme Court, hopefully not the SCOTUS.

I was dumbfounded. I really, really did not expect that.

An outrage.

The fish rots from the head down—meaning Washington. The whole rotten bunch have to be thrown out. It will take a long time but we have to begin today. Voting for Trump is a good start.

It is international socialism which has been taught in the schools for decades.
