The polls WERE far off. CNN and Fox had Trump winning by 11 points. Instead Cruz won by 4-points. That's swing of a massive 15 points. The polls WERE NOT EVEN CLOSE!

There were two polls or so about four days out that showed Trump way up but by election night the rcp was only an average of about 4 points for Trump…with a couple very late polls showing it dead even. You can’t claim with any credibility that NH is a similar situation. Trump has been far up constantly there, unlike Iowa where Ted was leading for awhile.

The last polls were from Emerson and Opinion savvy, which the Trumpbots widely derided as being from two no name polling outfits. The polls that were posted at the sidebar here at FR and tweeted by Donald Trump were the CNN and Fox polls which has him leading by 11 points.
Even after adding in the Emerson polls, Trump was still leading RCP average by 4.7 points and still lost by 4 points. Cruz will CRUSH Trump in the SEC states. He has the best organization, ground game, endorsements and vastly more cash on hand than Rubio, Jeb Bush. Kasich or Christie.

Cruz OTOH has a realistic proposition
ENFORCE THE EXISTING LAWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That would do a number of things:

First anyone who comes in contact with the law will be deported.

Second BUILD the Fence that has already been authorized by Congress and seal the Border.

Third NO BENEFITS for Illegals.

Fourth Strict enforcement of E-Verify punish people who hire illegals (like Trump), without jobs and benefits they illegals will leave. People who are here illegally will never be able to apply for American citizenship. They will want to leave prior to being identified as illegals.

Fifth legal immigration scaled to the numbers of Americans employed. Not the Employment Rate, but the number of working Age Americans out of work including those who have given up looking for a job.

Sixth withhold funding to Sanctuary Cities

This will reduce the number of Legal immigrants until the economy is health and employing Americans. HE has detailed the specifics. on this part of his website:
