No, I think since the hippy 60 days after Kennedy and Johnson we have won the majority. It is now we are capitulating.
He didn't campaign as a moderate but promised action on the issues of Korea, Communism and corruption. He also made peace with his conservative rival Sen. Robert A. Taft (R-Ohio).

Nah. Business people donate to everyone for protection.
It's just extortion. If you don't donate, and the guy gets in, he'll waste no time in trying to screw you through laws and regulations.
Most sensible businesses donate approximately equally to opposing parties. It's just a shakedown racket.
Don't forget 1946. The GOP also did well in 1938 and 1942, and even the "Cubanized" elections of 1962, coming as they did in the afterglow of the Cuban Missile Crisis produced some important GOP wins.
...and lets not forget who put in NAFTA= Bill Clinton...
He did. Eisenhower was the epitome of a moderate Republican. The tax rates during the Eisenhower administration was at an all-time high. He did nothing about the emerging welfare state.
But...as I've stated Eisenhower can be excused because of his military service, and to a lesser extent, he deported the illegal aliens.
How is it confusing?
Trump's donation to Democrat PACs, taking pictures with the Clintons simply don't compare to the ongoing appeasement that the Republicans have done, working hand-in-hand with Democrats for decades.
So for critics of Trump say he's liberal, what about the alternatives of other presidential candidates who will sell us down the river without paddles?

This is a great post, thank you. Some old quips, quotes and compliments that Trump made over the years to the people in power that held sway over his business interests and ran in his social circles, charity events etc are not equivalent to legislation.
Trump’s past liberalism is a total non-issue.
