Brewers Ping List
None ^ | 1 January 2016 | Self

Posted on 01/27/2016 11:37:07 AM PST by taxcontrol

Hello folks. Taxcontrol here and I am taking over the Brewer/Vintner ping list from Red_Devil 232. The list is for all that work with yeast to produce alcohol. So Beer, Wine, Mead, Spirits, even fuel producers are all welcome.

So some questions:
- I am going to assume that you want to be on the list unless you tell me otherwise
- How often is an approprite regularly scheduled ping to the list (any time a relevant article is posted, weekly, bi weekly, monthly)?
- How often should we cover recipes and when? Friday perhaps?
- any other thoughts or recommendations?

I’d say every 2 weeks is fine. Whenever you get to it.

I’m in. Just started brewing again after a hiatus, so it will be good to see the list get active too.

Here is another online site that serves home brewers. I have used these guys in the past and their beers are pretty good.

Do you prefer to force carbonate your kegs or have you tried priming a keg? I have only kegged beer three times, and I usually can’t wait to try it out so I force carbonation, but a very well respected brewery near me, The Bruery, primes most of their beers. I have been thinking about priming my next beer.

Couple of things,
I live about 15 miles west of Port St Lucie, Florida.
Soon I will be going to spring training in Jupiter as well as Port St. Lucie. Can’t wait.
Also a couple years ago the wife and I went to Cleveland in late February. We stayed in a hotel across the street from The Indians stadium where there was a snow drift that was about 40 feet high right next to a sign hanging from the stadium that said, opening day, 31 days.

Regarding charcoal: does anyone know how to “activate” it?

I can make charcoal easily enough from oak and two coffee tins, but there’s a step at the end wherein you soak it in a mild acid bath to etch out hollows and concavities on a microscopic scale.

It mystifies me.
