Radio host Rush Limbaugh said Tuesday that Donald Trump is “not a conservative” when compared with former President Ronald Reagan.

Limbaugh explained, that “compared to Reagan, Trump is not a conservative, and the bulk of Trump’s support is not the Republican base.”

“As we mentioned yesterday, if you look at the demographics, at least as expressed polling data, the bulk of Trump support is what we all have been led to believe the Republican Party wants: blue-collar people, moderates and independents,” suggested Limbaugh. “I mean there’s the fact that they don’t control Trump, and the real thing is they don’t have any money invested, and as such they have no say-so over what he does at all.”

He was right of himself in 12. Here’s a good article on his move to the right in the primaries. http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/cifamerica/2012/apr/03/mitt-romney-flip-flopper-2012

Well said, Finny, and I agree with both of you ladies.

This house is for Ted Cruz, the Constitutional conservative.

Trump doesn't drink, never has. Speaks volumes.

Muslims don't drink, either. Neither do Mormons, ala Harry Reid and Mitt Romney.

Trump bears close scrutiny pretty badly. Now, I think McCain was a very bad choice even though I voted for him (voted for Palin, actually) but he was a war hero, PERIOD. Trump says he wasn't, that he's only a war hero because he got caught. He's on film saying it, and saying it with scorn and derision. He insulted every POW who ever lived and every POW who ever died. Trump fans want to elect that to the White House? On the Republican ticket??????

EVERYONE should watch this for an idea of Trump's military ideas, why he supposedly went to military school in the first place (that information was not sourced and so may be dubious), and see that he got five deferments to avoid the draft.

Now perhaps the Utube video is a hit piece filled with lies, and obviously the guy narrating it has about as much respect for Trump as ... well, as these guys at Veterans Today did back in 2011.

If they are lies, then they should be fairly easy to debunk.

Wow!

Rush has been promoting Trump for many months now and it is still not enough for Trump supporters here. Maybe they need to be reminded again.

Exactly! And this is one thing I can’t understand about the Republican Party. Do they not want to win elections? From 1965 on every Immigration Act, every influx of Immigrants, has been a huge negative for Americans and the economy, and a huge plus for the Democrat Party in relation to elections (not to mention how it has changed the very fabric of our Country).

you’re still missing my point....I’m beginning to think on purpose. FACT: Mitt was considered TOO conservative by the GOP establishment in 2007-08 and was to the right of John McCain and FACT: Mitt WAS the establishment choice in 2012 over conservatives.

And individual flip flop here or there versus the total trajectory of the man in context - I’m talking about the latter.

Yes, he was the establishment choice in '12. That speaks nothing to the Rush bonefides in being the true conservative in 08.

Mitt however did move to the right from his 08 campaign. Just not as far right as his rivals were. I think that's the difference.

Again, Rush's intent in 08 was to keep McCain from the nomination much as he attempted to do in 00 when McCain was the major challenger to Bush II.

I don't think Mitt was at the time the 3 legged conservative Rush painted him as in 08. I do think he moved a bit more to the right in 12. But I think he probably better fit the establishment criteria more than he fit being a true 3 legged conservative in 08. It was the establishment felt more comfortable with McCain in 08.

And Mitt's religion made many uncomfortable in 08. Having been exposed to it, it was less a factor in 12. Although it still bothered some evangelicals.

Again it was Rush, not me, that painted Mitt as the true conservative by meeting the 3 legs of the conservative stool in 08. And he only did that to try to stop McCain. Problem was his puffery in 08 sort of set up Mitt as the standard bearer in 12 and Rush wanted Newt or Santorum more in 12 so he attempted to paint over the portrait he made in 08.

Sorry, but Muslims DO drink. Just not out in the open. And only the ruling class.

Islam is the most hypocritical religion on the planet.

I think Rush is a major factor....and in fact had a part in the show for several years....and have listened since the very first week he was on air nationally. But I think you’re way over estimating his impact on this history.

Romney was closer to Reagan in his 08 CPAC speech (right after dropping out) than at any other moment in his life. That speech was pure Reagan, pure free market, pure freedom. He was NEVER that man again, regardless of some cynical flipping and flopping and his stupid “severely conservative” remark - which was not true.

I get that, and understand where you’re coming from. But I don’t think you can take those two races out of context and really get an historically accurate reading. And as I said, he was just a more conservative guy inside himself in 07-08 than he was four years later - even as he ran a cynical campaign of flip flops.

In 07-08, he hid his conservatism a little due to what the WSJ and Fox News panel types were saying....and then let it rip the day he dropped out of the race. Had he run his entire campaign like that, he’d have won the nomination and maybe the Oval.

Then in 11-12, he ran as more conservative than he actually was at the time. Hitting the fastball is important, but you must be able to track the curve as well.....

Compared To Reagan, Trump Is Not A Conservative

Compared to Ronnie Jr, Trump is far right.

.

I like Trump. He has all the right enemies in DC. I also like the way he is destroying the PC playbook. Political correctness is fascism and the spineless GOP elite want use to submit to it.
