Jake Brewer, RIP [husband of Mary Katharine Ham]
HotAir.com ^ | 9/20/2015 | Ed Morrissey

Posted on 09/20/2015 12:40:01 PM PDT by iowamark

It is with great shock and sadness that we offer our condolences and prayers to the family of Jake Brewer, the husband of Mary Katharine Ham, and the father of Georgia and a child on the way, as well as his colleagues and friends at the White House and Change.org. Jake died as a result of an accident while participating in the Ride to Conquer Cancer bicycle rally and fundraiser. He gave his life while trying to help others, a quality that Jake’s friends say is defining about him. Jake passed away yesterday at 34 years of age.

Mary Katharine published this statement on Instagram, along with a picture of their growing family:

We lost our Jake yesterday, and I lost part of my heart and the father of my sweet babies. I don't have to tell most of you how wonderful he was. It was self-evident. His life was his testimony, and it was powerful and tender and fierce, with an ever-present twinkle in the eye. I will miss him forever, even more than I can know right now. No arms can be her father's, but my daughter is surrounded by her very favorite people and all the hugs she could imagine. This will change us, but with prayer and love and the strength that is their companion, we can hope our heartache is not in vain-- that it will change us and the world in beautiful ways, just as he did. If that sounds too optimistic at this time, it's because it is. But there was no thought too optimistic for Jake, so take it and run with it. I will strive and pray not to feel I was cheated of many years with him, but cherish the gift of the years I had. In a life where nothing is guaranteed, Jake made the absolute, ever-lovin' most of his time with all of us. This is a family picture we took a couple weeks ago. It was taken because Jake, as always, was ready with a camera and his immense talent. All four members of our little, growing family are in it. I can never be without him because these babies are half him. They are made of some of the strongest, kindest stuff God had to offer this world. Please pray that he can see us and we'll all make him proud. God, I love him. Psalm 34:18, Philippians 1:3.

Nothing we can add would be adequate to the profound loss and sorrow which Mary Katharine, their families and their friends are suffering at the moment. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of them, and we’d ask our readers to join us. Later, we’ll ask a friend to give us a more complete recognition of Jake’s life, but we do not wish to unnecessarily disturb them during this time of shock and mourning.

God our Father,
Your power brings us to birth,
Your providence guides our lives,
and by Your command we return to dust.

Lord, those who die still live in Your presence,
their lives change but do not end.
I pray in hope for my family,
relatives and friends,
and for all the dead known to You alone.

In company with Christ,
Who died and now lives,
may they rejoice in Your kingdom,
where all our tears are wiped away.
Unite us together again in one family,
to sing Your praise forever and ever.

Amen.

This was another if those James Carville/Mary Matalin marriages apparently. How do those marriages work?

May He who is enthroned on the praises of Israel comfort those who mourn and turn the mourning to joy, in our days, and speedily.

May His great Name grow exalted and sanctified (Amen.)
in the world that He created as He willed.
May He give reign to His kingship in your lifetimes and in your days,
and in the lifetimes of the entire Family of Israel,
swiftly and soon. Now respond: Amen.
(Cong Amen. May His great Name be blessed forever and ever.)
May His great Name be blessed forever and ever.
Blessed, praised, glorified, exalted, extolled,
mighty, upraised, and lauded be the Name of the Holy One, Blessed is He
(Cong. Blessed is He) beyond any blessing and song,
praise and consolation that are uttered in the world. Now respond: Amen.
May there be abundant peace from Heaven, and life
upon us and upon all Israel. Now respond: Amen.
He Who makes peace in His heights, may He make peace,
upon us and upon all Israel. Now respond: Amen.

For God NOTHING is impossible

There are something that are impossible to my God, the God of the Bible:

1. He cannot sin.
2. He cannot abide sin in his presence.
3. The soul of the human whom God has not saved before his/her physical death will go to Sheol=Hades=Hell, and after the judgment, into the Lake of Fire forever. The righteousness of The God will not permit Him to save a human who can no longer repent.

I hate to tell you this, but your outlook on this issue is fatally flawed, and I mean fatally.

Respectfully --

Well what? Is this an ad hominem argument? I did say some poster cold make that accusation, but I did not say he/she could get away with it.

Then why does the Bible say that “For God nothing is impossible?” See Luke 1:37

...or Matt 19:36 - “Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

Jeremiah 32:27 Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh. Is there anything too hard for me?

PS We were NOT discussing that which goes against the very nature of God.

He also worked for the Sunlight Foundation. He was a good dude, well liked by MK's milblog friends.
I was fortunate to meet him while he and MK were dating.
We drank beer and talked politics.
I called him the 2nd luckiest man in the known universe; with yours truly being the luckiest.
We both married well above our pay grades
and he loved my BBQ sauce.

Yes they do. I see a few more that need deletion and a visit from the Viking Kitties

If you knew her, you wouldn't post drivel like that.
I know her. I knew Jake.
She is what she appears to be.

Well, you’re both second behind me!

I can wish only good things for her and her children in their difficult time.

All my comments were non-personal and purely concerning her professional public career.

You are trying to make this Matthew 19:26 verse say more thn it does in context. Jesus was speaking to his disciples regarding what was possible for them. God is not the subject of the sentence, the disciples are. That is, when they are with God, it is possible for them to do or be all the things He wants. The converse is that for them, without God, things pleasing to Him are impossible:

This verse covers it:

Heb 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

The human who has been presented with the Gospel, and chooses to reject it, is without faith; and if he dies in that state, cannot change, and hence cannot ever please God. That is why I said what I did. Capisce?

These people operate within a political universe. The neighborhoods they live in, the restaurants they eat at, bars they drink at, fitness clubs where they work out ... are limited. They often attend the same meetings and conferences.

And here you point out exactly what everyone is upset about, and why we feel there is a mass deception going on, feeding us in the rest of the nation, nothing but a pantomime sideshow.

This is why the women in the power couples do not take their husband’s names. So much easier to hide the connections this way. And the typical set-up is one spouse works in government while the other works in media.

It's a pandemic inside the Beltway. Lois Lerner never took her husband's name...how convenient. She worked at the IRS, he as a tax lawyer representing clients before the IRS. I wonder how many "favors" she did for her husband's law firm?

Unbelievable! It’s a tangle that will never be undone. As much as we hope some president with integrity can start the process, there are too many others, entrenched in other areas, who will not let reform happen. But, I will continue to trust God and press on.

I’m still trying to figure out why someone would be “speeding” on a charity ride. Anyway, I’m sorry for her loss and for the child who will not know/grow up withou his father.

Fit bikers who go on long distance rides usually compete with themselves, if not other riders. If he went into a curve at a high speed and his rear wheel hit a stone (happened to me once, I know) the bike could have shot out from under him, sending him into the car’s path.
