The death of a Texas deputy, shot from behind while filling his patrol car with gas; the mob violence on a single mother in a park while her child looks on; the “knockout game” assault on a military veteran as he walked alone on the street; the mugging of a 92 year old woman as she prayed in a church; the killing of a 5 year old girl sitting on her Grandfather’s lap and a police officer who killed a black motorist, later found to have had two pounds of marijuana and thousands of dollars in his car. There are countless similar stories.
Have you heard of these? You may be familiar with the last one. That is about Officer Ray Tensing who fired one shot and killed Sam DuBose, a black man who had two pounds of weed and $2,600 in cash in his car. The stop and killing made the media, but not the dope or cash. Why? Because the media refuse to deviate from the narrative into which they have so comfortably fallen over the last twenty years. “White cop kills black man, white cop guilty of murder.” And the other stories? No, you won’t hear about them because they involve black on white crime. And the media must make excuses or provide for “thugs-of-color” who commit crimes.

News, by definition, is what is different and blacks killing people is so common it's no longer news. Years ago there was a debate between Orin Hatch and Jesse Jackson on gun control; Jesse for it, Orin against. Jesse was blathering on about how guns kill blacks in a disproportionate rate when compared to whites, indicating some kind of racism. Orin looked at Jesse and said: "If you remove the murders committed by black males between the ages of 17 and 30, the US would have a lower murder rate that Switzerland." The camera panned to Jesse...

Blacks have a problem and throwing dollars at it hasn't worked after 50+ years of trying. Jesse and Al need to admit the black problem is an internal one and it starts with the breakdown of the black family. In the 1960's a little over 20% of black children were born out of wedlock. Now it's 72%. Until we see some efforts by blacks to clean up their own house, I can't see why we should continue to support such behavior.

Agreed. I kinda like the workfare system: If you draw public assistance and can still fog a mirror, you show up at 7AM to clean toilets in public buildings or sweep streets...whatever the gov’t deems necessary. Evidently, it’s amazing how quickly they find a real job.

Every time I drive to our Serbian Orthodox Church, I see a HUGE “Black Lives Matter” in front of the local Unitarian Universalist “church”.
I doubt if they have a single black member—not only are they “UU”, but they are in a white suburb.

By going on public assistance (welfare) you are essentially unable to take care of yourself, meaning you are a child, a minor. . .letting “mommy and daddy” take care of you, therefore, like in a family, when important decisions are made, the child does not get a vote.
I like it! In other posts I presented the idea that if you don’t pay Federal Income taxes, you don’t get to vote in Federal Elections. Nothing in the game, why should you get to vote. The qualification is not as far-fetched as it sounds, since the Constitution originally stated that only male landowners could vote.
That's not actually true. Switzerland's murder rate is about .7 per 100,000 and the US rate is about 5. A 2001 Bureau of Justice Statistics study of FBI Supplementary Homicide Reports showed that that African-American males between the ages of 14 and 24 accounted for 1.1% of the population and 32% of murders. Anyway, making that adjustment still leaves our murder rate at over 3 times Switzerland.
On the other hand, the gun ownership rate in Switzerland is about the same as the US (29% of Swiss households have a gun vs. about 32% for the US), so the mere presence of guns is defintely not the issue.
By the way, pro-gun control folks love to point out that the US has the most guns per capita, but except for crimes in which a single person uses multiple guns (which are exceedingly rare) the number of guns per person is not a relevant statistic, but rather the number of persons with guns.

Benjamin Franklin for one wasn’t too happy with the notion, and actually we all have skin in some way, though what we’re looking at is not the skin but the fat. And that’s our fault, not the fault of the taxation system.

When I see that huge sign, I’m always puzzled as to why the UUs are so interested in the “Black Lives Matter” meme. Then I have to put it entirely out of my mind, because I’m going to meet the Lord in Divine Liturgy and Holy Communion.
I finally looked at the UU web page on “Black Lives Matter” and even read some of the articles. But I’m STILL puzzled as to why they’re so interested in it.
The REAL problem may be that UU worship and “church” life is so empty. If any UU feels the emptiness, they are very welcome to come and visit us in the Orthodox Church. Maybe they will want to become Catechumens, and eventually be received into the Orthodox Church.
That’s the REAL way to fill the hole in their lives, NOT chase after “Black Lives Matter”, where they are not even wanted!!!!
