Yep it is wrong, especially in cancer patients.
I’m one state north of you, and my issue is chronic back pain. I have 8-9 herniated discs, Spinal Stenosis, and Peripheral Neuropathy,
I live outside of a town of approx 30,000, and we have 1 pain clinic. When insurance quit paying for my medication I had been on for 10 years, she no longer wanted to see me because she was going to have to call and get pre-approval for my meds every month.
I had to go 8 months, with no treatment, and finally found a clinic 150 miles away. 8 months was how long it took to get an appointment.
I brought my prescriptions home, and the pharmacist I had been going to for the last 4 years refused to fill them because they were from another city.
I understand these areas have had problems with a bunch of morons stealing their parents, or grandparents meds and ODing, but instead of going after the criminals involved in this, they are treating this just like guns. People who need them are being punished and the criminals have all switched over to heroin, and still breaking the law, and ODing.
Trying to explain this to a politician, or anyone not in pain is like talking to a potted plant, all the while the politician is advocating for pot legalization.
Go figure.
Again I am sorry about your friend, and yes please keep advocating for this because there are still millions of us out here who are not well enough to march into our congress critter’s office and demand they fix this crap.
Their lives matter not compared to the relief of this old lady's pain.
Of course they are - all part of the plan to save money on health care. Obama came out and said to medicate folks with pain drugs instead of healing them and this is the next step....
Why do government idiots have the right to tell people what medicines they can't have?
funny that morphine, heroin etc were legal in the USA until the progressive era of the early 1900s and 3% of the people were addicts then same as now with all the banning
Amen!
