McCarthy was right. His vilification has been so pervasive in our media and educational institutions that the rewrite of history is now complete. The reality of what took place has been completely lost.
Was his early demise apparently because of liver failure? That organ is, of course, where many stealth poisons are removed from the system, which would damage it.
One wonders whether or not the claim of "death due to alcoholism" was not in fact accelerated by a debilitating poison not easily detectable in those days before more discerning methods of analysis were devised.
