Former CNN Headline News anchor Lynne Russell and her husband, former CNN correspondent Chuck De Caro faced off against a robber at an Albuquerque, N.M. motel. De Caro shot and killed the thief.
De Caro himself was reportedly shot three times by the robber but is expected to survive. Russell was not hurt.

Lynn is NO lefty. Younger folks do not REALize that CNN used to be the ONLY cable news worth a hoot. It had great stuff (Chris Curl and her husband Don Farmer) etc. Great stuff. Then as owner Ted Turner succumbed to wifey Hanoi Jane Fonda, it started left in a hurry, and FOX showed up, but now FOX is heading let fast: Geraldo, Shep, Chris Wallace, on and on, and they fired Sarah - sickening.

I’d say be prepped at most hotels, but like you, I wondered about that as well.
Gotta admit I passed on a Motel 6 on the edge of Tulsa one night. Didn’t look like the safest area.

Both retirement age. Both carrying handguns. (He had special forces training.) Maybe just exhausted from too long a drive and didn’t pay attention to the location.
