Trump sends Perino into near meltdown

Donald Trump's claim that as President he would build a wall between Mexico and the U.S. and make Mexico pay for it has the political establishment fuming. Dana Perino, co-host of The Five on Fox News was practically foaming at the mouth over the idea.

Perino is an ayatollah of the Bushiban who offers little to the show except regurgitated establishment talking points and mindless defense of anything any Bush says or does. On Tuesday Perino had the following exchange with co-host Eric Bolling.

Mr. Bolling said Trump "was not afraid to take shots at other countries. He took shots at China. He certainly took shots at Mexico. You heard the comment about they send us not their best. But he said I'm going to build a wall on our southern border. I know how to build walls. He said and they are going to pay for it."

Perino grew red-faced and shot back, "Right, on what planet is that actually true? Do you think you can make Mexico pay for a permanent wall between Mexico and the United States? You can do that?"

Mr. Bolling said, "I think that Donald Trump—there's no question you can build a wall."

Perino grew more agitated and shrieked, "And you're going to build a wall and make Mexico pay for it? On what planet could that actually happen?"

Mr. Bolling calmly replied, "I think it could happen," adding, "one of the ways you do it, you tax them."

Perino, now just short of meltdown, ranted, "You tax Mexico? The president of the United States is going to tax Mexico to get a wall for the United States of America? I'm pointing out the U.S. absurdity of a lot of these comments. I get it that he's entertaining. I know that he loves America. He's done a lot of great things. He also has done things without ever having to work with 535 members of Congress who actually control the purse strings in America. When you're the president of the United States, you have no money unless the Congress says here's what you can spend it on. So you certainly don't have Mexico's money to make them pay for a wall between the two countries."

Perino obviously has no idea that according to Banco de Mexico remittances from Mexicans living in the U.S. to Mexico are about 6 billion dollars per quarter. That is more than the country's tourist income and foreign investment income. It is second only to oil sales in their foreign income. Nor does she know that current laws would allow the president regulate these transactions and/or impose fees on these transactions. Under current forfeiture law the administration can confiscate these funds with no court order or other authorization.

Also, tourism from the U.S. is a major part of the Mexican economy. The president has numerous tools to drastically cut that tourism. Plus, these items only scratch the surface of how a U.S, president could, on his own, force Mexico to pay for building a wall.

Of course, none of this is a Bush talking point so it is beyond Perino's expertise. More to the point, since none of this is something a Bush or someone from the Bush wing of the Republican Party would do, Perino will never embrace it or admit a U.S. president has these powers.

When I’ve watch The FIve, and Dana has her turn, her delivery sounds like Charlie Brown’s teacher. It difficult to latch on to anything she’s talking about.

If Jeb Bush sat on Karl Rove’s head long enough Dana Perino is what would hatch out.

Perino is the Bush’s Baghdad Bob. And figuring out a 15 percent tip on a $20 tab would cause her to go into near meltdown.

I also was watching “The Five” that day and caught Ms. Perino’s rant when her mask slipped off. I thought of the saying about beautiful women....” Yea she’s a 10, but somewhere...some guy is really getting tired of her crap. When she accused Bolling of covering for Trump just to get on Trump’s show, Bolling looked at her like SHE was the one from outer space. He had to remind her that his contract with Fox wouldn’t allow him on “The Apprentice”. I’m no fan of Bolling, but Perino’s outburst at him was a shock. Honestly, “The Five” has been losing its appeal for some time. And with the most entertaining panelist on medical leave (Beckel), why bother.

I love Trump's take no prisoners no nonsense approach. But he puts the Law of Unintended Consequences on steroids.

One immediate thought. A serious Donald Trump run is likely to be used by the left to galvanize the amorphous Hispanic vote.

The allegiances of this voting block are still being formed.

Word of DT taking taxes from money headed to Mexico would be the dog whistle that motivates a much higher % of them to turn out and vote dem...just sayin.’

I like Dana Perino. I think she did an outstanding job as Bush's press secretary. She is smart and the only one on the panel who's actually been on the front-line of the political game in DC. Yes, she likes Bush but compared to Clinton and Obama, so did I. Was he Ronald Reagan? No, but while he had his faults, he wasn't a complete disaster like Clinton was and Obama is.

Dana and Kimberly Gilfoyle are the voices of reason on The Five panel. Eric Bolling can hardly spit out his opinion without stuttering and hesitating and being coherent. He doesn't speak extemporaneously well. Greg Gutfield is funny with a sharp mind and is the wit of the group. The resident liberal is the foil for the rest of them. Beckel, Juan Williams and that air-head Julie something, are there to make liberals look stupid. They perform that job admirably.

Watched the videos.

Looks like the show should be renamed...The Dana Perino Show. She never quits talking over the other person.

Her entire TV psersona summed up in a single sentence. Ouch.

I’m glad that SOMETHING finally got under her skin. Previously, the only thing that drew passion from her was her dog Muffy.

Fox should replace her with Katie Pavlich. Katie is smarter, more articulate, prettier, and an actual conservative.

A good assessment, and I agree on all counts. It shouldn’t surprise anyone when Perino spouts the daily Rino talking points.

And so too, can you count on Beckel, Williams and this latest incantation of a liberal, Julie something, to spout the daily democRAT talking points like clockwork.

Dana reminds one of the girl next door, while that Liberal, Julie, reminds me of that bitch ex-wife of mine. Gilfoyle and Tantarous on the other hand, remind me of rarified air, of which, I can't afford.

Yes. Her demeanor is usually that of the Romper Room teacher from the 50’s. For her to go ballistic was astonishing to most viewers. It was a direct unwarranted personal attack on Bolling and that always shows weakness and pettiness.

Something very weird about that lady.

Picture of her and the hubby:

Hint: hub isn't in the middle.

Who in that pic do you suppose insists on being in charge?
