Oh yeah I was a loyal SOA fan and never missed an episode. When season 7 was over I started binge watching breaking bad(never saw an episode before that). In comparison, breaking bad was tame compared to SOA IMO. Good, but no where near as graphic.

Dunno entirely, as I got burned out on fantasy back in the seventies and don’t read much of that genre.

Part of the reason this series is so full of gory betrayal and sexual nastiness is that it is based on Maurice Druon’s “Iron King” series. That in turn was based on the historic reign of King Philip of France (the guy who betrayed the Knights Templar) and historically that was ... well like Game Of Thrones without magic and monsters.

Doesn’t inviting Theon to watch count as foreplay?

What started out as the most boring season since season 2 really went out with a bang over the final 3 episodes.

It was foreshadowed by Stannis barbequing his wife’s brother for worshiping the old gods.

I see Lena coming back with a vengeance—say goodbye to the sparrow and his nest. We will see brutality not yet perceived.

Many are upset about the show but it’s pretty true to the books - so shoot your arrows at the author

In my opinion Martin is not as good as Tolkien. Not even close.I tried to read the first book several years ago and wasn’t able to finish. It was too dark and too depressing.

I’m thinking about quitting. I got no sympathy for Cersei, but what they did to her last night was pretty repulsive.

Is the “Game of Thrones” author the lib version of Tolkien?

He's more like the anti-Tolkien. He has basically rendered a fantasy world whose gods don't hold anyone to any standard of conduct - kind of like San Francisco.

I am generally averse to the horror genre. The last “horror” movie I watched was “The Blair Witch Project.” I can’t stomach any of the modern genre.

That said, I don’t feel like GoT is showing us anything that likely hasn’t happened in the annals of human history. The fact that the writers could imagine it tells me that humanity has the capacity for incredible perversion, but if you’re a student of history, you’d know that there were much worse crimes against humanity committed throughout the history of man than what has been shown in GoT.

I’m not saying that GoT isn’t an excuse to show abominable behaviors, but picking up a true-to-existence history book would provide no fewer examples of perversion than this weekly show normally does.
