Given that sports metaphors are an everyday part of life, it's no surprise that NBC and ABC have taken a page from major leagues sports, and traded their two troubled and tainted stars, Brian Williams and George Stephanopoulos. Sources tell us that while the deal has been agreed to in principal, it hasn't been yet finalized. Williams' contract has several more years to run, so, in consideration for taking on the bigger financial commitment.....
We've heard that ABC wants NBC to agree to pay 80% of William's salary for the final two years of his contract. The new head of NBC News, Andy Lack, has countered with an offer to include Ed Schultz and Al Sharpton in the package, making it in effect a three-for-one trade.
ABC has reportedly rejected out-of hand that proposal...indeed, they're said to have laughed so hard at the idea that several of the ABC NEWS suits suffered slight injuries when they fell down laughing.
ABC has reportedly asked NBC to throw in Savannah Guthrie instead, but this won't fly with the NBC bosses.
Complicating the deal getting done are reports that Katie Couric has offered herself to both ABC and NBC as a possible co-anchor with either Williams or Stephanopoulos. Kouric, looking for a chance to get back into network news since she was let go by CBS, feels that while the trade is a good one in principle, as it gives both men a chance for a fresh start, "one or both will feel a little uncomfortable in the beginning, so having someone else anchoring with them would ease the transition."
Stay tuned, as we will update this as soon as more details become known.
Meanwhile, Fox’s Shep is saying “where’s the gayboys in this deal?”
Talk about “In your face” networking.
Talk about rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.
Is this for real? I see no satire or sarcasm tags anywhere, but this is VERY hard to believe...even this idiots couldn’t be this idiotic...could they?
and a Geraldo Rivera to be named later...
The pretty boys will never have to worry about where their next meal will come from as long as they have those baby faces and can promote the party line.
Yes they could. Remember MSM executives have given us the View, BaaBaa Walters, Katie Couric and more.
Both need to be picked up by MSNBC. Brian with a show call: “The world as I see it” and George with “The Clinton News”.
ABC is going to also have to cough up a Leftie who can work out of the bullpen.
