Republican senator Ted Cruz said Wednesday afternoon he is “long-term optimistic and short-term pessimistic” on the question of passing any immigration reform legislation. Speaking with Javier Palomarez, the president of the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, the Texan presidential candidate said he considers himself a “proponent of immigration reform.” But, Cruz added, political leaders should focus on those aspects that have “bipartisan support.”

There is nothing wrong with immigration reform if it goes in the right direction.

Let’s reform it back to the pre-1965 rules.

And restore the pre-Obama days when Border Guards were assigned to actually guarding the border instead of as a Welcome Wagon for illegals.

And prosecute any official or superior who assigns them to Day Care for illegals and changing their dirty diapers.

Then don’t support him, but fact of the matter is, there aren’t enough Americans that can do IT jobs. Has nothing to do with want. I also work in the industry and we can’t fill positions because there are no qualified resumes.

What you really mean is that there aren't enough people with the skills you want, willing to work for the salary you are offering. Increase the offering salary and you will find lots of qualified American citizens.

And there aren't as many Americans in IT as there could be, because the effect of H1B over decades has been to get smart teens to consider other fields instead.

IT cant unionize, its forbidden by federal law
they have already told me that i will never have a raise or promotion for the rest of my life because i am not a protected class. so my indonesian wife and i have to be barren of children, a home, and all that...

will Cruz pay my retirement costs after depressing my salary or forcing me onto welfare because of H1-B visas (Which will continue to depress IT salaries as they have for decades as most compaies violate the laws)

but since he too is showing his globalist position and that immigrants are favored over prior immigrants... so i warn the newcomers... once your here as citizen, they will take away what they give you to get you here... evem more so if your not from india, or such countries... if your from russia, slovakia, and europe in general, you have no country, no home, and non want you alive...

sometimes i think it would have been better my family staying in the soviet union... we would have at least kept our homes, our language, our money and then could come here NOW and succeed. the fact we lost our homes, the family was exterminated, we lost our money, our language, came as refugees... i lived in a slum growing up, and was homeless to attand school after bronx science, as they didnt want males then, women were to knock men out. so i worked really hard from when i was 5 years old... was homeless to attend college courses to get a basic degree.

now i am priveleges and have to have what i earned taken away from me, my family exterminated again by socialism, and they want my voting support.

A lot of the current H1B is a fraud, Cruz has to address this.

There is nothing wrong with increasing H1Bs, but the problem is that these currently displace American workers.

I wish one of these candidates would require companies to make public applications for each H1B. If they are found lying about their application, they should have to pay a fine of equal to 5X the market salary for the position or a minimum of 100k.

Maybe this is Cruz threading the needle for corporate support (money) and once POTUS will take a more pragmatic approach towards American Workers. But I echo what many are saying, we can’t afford to take that chance.

If YOUR COMPANY can't find an American Citizen to fill one of your IT jobs, then YOUR COMPANY is not offering enough money for a qualified AMERICAN CITIZEN to take it.

YOU just want to pay minimal wages for a highly technical job.

So offer more money and then you can find the kind of applicant you are looking for. Quit trying to find slave labor overseas.
