Probably because, as you phrased it — no matter how true and factual it may be — it sounds like a white supremacist’s screed. Unfortunately, to be acceptable, you’d have to “church it up” a bit.
“WHERE IS THE CONSERVATIVE/REPUBLICAN LEADERSHIP AT ON THE RIOTS?”
First of all WHERE IS THE CONSERVATIVE/REPUBLICAN LEADERSHIP?
There has to be one first.
I know the last thing they want is to know where I’m AT ON THE RIOTS?
Though Baltimore claims Edgar Allan Poe’s earthly remains buried at that famous graveyard, Poe was of course born in Boston on Jan 19, 1809. He lived in a number of places: Fordham in The Bronx (Poe Cottage still standing), Philadelphia, Manhattan, Richmond (Virginia), West Point, England, Scotland. Happened to die in Baltimore on Oct 7, 1849.
You have a brain and ambition. Head on out. What’s there to keep you held down?
Forgive me, I was speaking from a point of view that “if” I lived there I would do what I said, but as for me I was spared, had family grow up in a place like that, but one joined the military and thus never grew up in a place like that.
10-4. Carry on FRiend.
The message would be lost in the howls and twisted by the MSM - only the leftists like Sharpton/Jackson/Obama/Holder (an his replacement) would win.
Wow. Those statistics are overwhelming.
But he considered Baltimore “home,” if for no other reason than that is where he eventually ended up, and for which he had the most affection (and even the word “affection” is too strong a word; Baltimore was where he felt most comfortable, if he was ever truly comfortable anywhere). But it is all relative, because he was a man haunted by his own demons, and he was most at home inside his own head.
His reputed last words, “Lord help my poor soul.”
‘Haunted by his own demons’ is a romanticized expression these days. As a pop-psychology one-size-fits-all, it’s been applied to Poe many times. However well intended, it’s dismissive and errant in the case of Poe. The historical memory of Poe suffered immense even libelous damage from his first biographer Griswold who was never fond of him and relished the opportunity to defame him. Poe’s problems were born more of his poverty during his adult years than anything else. Poe’s artistio discipline in the fashioning of a remarkable output of time-tested work, his penury notwithstanding, is often underplayed. He accomplished in but a couple of decades what lesser story writers, poets and literary critics could not accomplish in a multiple of life-times.
Poe’s artistic talents are not underplayed, especially by me. He is one of my favorite authors of all time.
In poetry he was the master of alliteration; no one could rival him there.
In literature he is recognized as the father of the American mystery story.
I’ve read several Poe biographies over the years, and all pretty much said he was unable to handle his genius (which is not all unusual with true geniuses). Poe is one of the people in history I’d love to have at a dinner party for ten of history’s most interesting people.
