The Russian winter couples with the German’s long supply lines defeated Germany. Not to mention on Hitler’s insistence on taking Stalingrad.

I liked the Ernie Pyle cartoon that showed two bored GIs amusing themselves by shooting a big rat from range of about six inches.

As one of them aims his .45 at the rat, the other one says something like “make sure you hit a vital organ.”

If WW II was fought today—The Germans would have invaded Mexico and march right into the USA while the American People watched “Dancing with the Stars” and accused each outher of racism and such. If there is a WW III I do not know if we would win.

There IS a WWIII.
And the Chinese are fighting it.
To win.
And they ARE winning it.

AWESOME. Beyond awesome. Thet really made my day. Could have been so much longer. Didnt even have Midway or the Bulge.

I am betting there is more WW2 history in this one joke than most Millenials have been taught in K through 12.

The worst white mass murderer Stalin, versus the second worse, Hitler, they were allies as they launched WWII together, but the two monsters couldn’t hold that alliance for long.

If Hitler were Black, we would all be speaking German.

“make sure you hit a vital organ. They’re known to charge when wounded!”

Yeah, I used to have all their cartoons in pulp paperback books. Wish I still had them!

I liked the Ernie Pyle cartoon that showed two bored GIs amusing themselves by shooting a big rat from range of about six inches.

Ernie Pyle was a top-notch war correspondent but not a cartoonist. Methinks you are thinking of one of the "Willie & Joe" cartoons by Bill Mauldin. First in the 45th Infantry Newspaper and then in the European Stars & Stripes, these depictions of rough and worn front-line GIs made all but the top brass sympathize while laughing.
