Hunger Games Actress Declares Hair Styles Racist, Tied to Trayvon Martin

In the latest part of the outrage parade, a 16 year old Hunger Games star has declared the use of certain hair styles as racist. According to Amandla Stenberg, non-blacks wearing cornrows represent ‘cultural appropriation’ and slammed popular public figures for using the style in their fame.

Buzzfeed has a particularly bizarre article relating to the video. In it, it shows stills and gifs of Stenberg’s rant. In part, Stenberg declared that the rise of white rappers Macklemore and Iggy Azalea have been tied to their ‘appropriation’ of black culture. She states that their increased popularity has been in part influenced by large scale protests regarding the killings of Trayvon Martin and Eric Garner.

She finishes the video with what she sees as a poignant point: “What would America be like if it loved black people as much as it loves black culture?”

>>It’s all Bo Derek’s fault!
LOL! She’s the first person to come to mind when I think of cornrows.<<

They don’t make women like that any more. Now they all have tattoos, piercings and an attitude. Blech.

I always knew I would get old, but I always hoped I wouldn’t get grumpy. It becomes more difficult by the day.

House of the rising sun came from Britain with immigrants and made its way to New Orleans where it was taken up by the blacks before The Animals (British) recorded it. It was number on the music charts the day I was born and its still an awesome song.

A classic example, Rocket 88, considered the first true Rock n Rol song, done by Ike Turner in his "jazzy" R&B style Bill Haley covered this song with more of a "rockabilly" sound. Also Brown Eyed Handsome Man and Slippin and Slidin, big hits for Chuck Berry and Little Richard were written originally performed by Buddy Holly.

Back in 1975, a black co worker came to work with his hair done in cornrows. It looked kind of nice, his wife had worked all the evening before on them.

The other blacks at the plant razzed him so bad he went home and combed them out.

It always seemed funny to me (this goes back decades) that one could walk down the aisles of a drug or grocery store, and see a whole aisle devoted to hair-straightening or skin-bleaching stuff, for the Black folks; and go down other aisles full of sun-tanning stuff and perms for the White folks.

(I happened to have a conversation with a mixed-race lady who identifies as “Black” today; she was showing us a picture of a distant cousin who looks like a young Tuesday Weld. I told her that I have distant cousins who are half-Black, and it’s fun to see their pictures: all the girls look just like me and the other females in our closer family, with some features that clearly show the African genes. I told her that looking at their pictures, I saw how I would appear if I had some Black genes. Her response was: “Do they have good hair?” I think the response was due to her own curiosity as to how things ‘fall out’.)

It’s time that we give up this “race” crap, and realize that we are all the same species.

Jeez....

These brainwashed kids are armed with definitions created in university race studies programs. This academic hogwash is created to keep the races separate and tensions high, which provides the race baiters a power base.

I really think she's in the wrong trade if she's going to complain about "art" challenging an audience's beliefs and perceptions, borrowing this or that or whatever.

She probably suffers from some sort of Racist OCD. Getting to be quite common among those growing up in the age of Obola.
