The photos and analysis that causes me doubt about the murder charge can be seen here. I know it is linked above, but thought it might save time to have it close to my post above.
The reports clearly say Slager deployed his taser.
Yet no mention of taser barbs in slager in the same reports from other officers.
And I dont care what they claim at the source from the OP...I already pointed out the CPR discrepancy....so I dont find the source credible.
I think when the evidence does come out...a few of you are going to be really red faced.....they didnt charge him murder and fire him for nothing.
There might some other cops in serious trouble too before this is over based on their reports confilicting with photo proof to the contrary.
I have no idea why he appeared to move the taser. Others have raised the possibility that Officers are required to keep control of their weapons, and that Officer Slager knew others were in the area and might have tried to snatch it.
I do not know how much these tasers cost (reported to be 1,000$ each), so he might have gotten in trouble for not regaining possession of it. Why he dropped it on the ground near Scott, and then picked it back up is unclear to me.
Someone else at the Treehouse wondered if Slager might have retrieved it because of the potential for damage by incoming police cars running over it.
Since I have no knowledge of police procedures, I see this as an opportunity for learning, and will be closely following what develops over at the Treehouse. I followed them during the Zimmerman and Brown mess of bad reporting, and found them honest, unbiased, and accurate.
Fine, move it but use a leatherman or something other than his hands.
Interesting that a "conservative" wants government agents to have that much control over citizens.
It’s because it a cop...the same attitude would defend Sammy weaver being shot in the back while running away.
If Scott had been allowed to escape the scene he might have made his way to that middle school and not paid child support to those students.
if he shot that cop with a tazer, the cop simply followed his training. If he got tazerd..he walks.
Did you actually look at the photos of the taser wire, the timeline, the map?
I do not know enough about police procedure and constraints when filing reports on an incident like this. I could assume they are only to write down what they actually observed at the scene.
Is it possible that all of the pertinent information regarding the entirety of this situation is being withheld from the public for political reasons?
What happened to the idea of searching all the evidence to find the truth? We see the media constantly trying to shape stories, to “manage public perceptions”, to lie, to create false narratives, and distort facts.
We also see our government doing the same. So, don’t be quick to take the media version as factual.
I will have no reason to be red-faced should Slager be found guilty of murder, as I have not reached a personal “verdict” yet. I don’t think you should, either.
Office Slager- was a trained expert on the taser, so how did he accidentally tase himself? And why didn’t this report say he had been tased?

I don’t know if he walks or not, but I’m absolutely sure that the media and PR team that is now pushing the current popular narrative is not presenting the whole story.
My best guess is that cop drew his weapon after being assaulted, and in the heat of the moment was unable to call back the decision to shoot when Scott decided that it was time for flight instead of fight.
In some limited circumstances my understanding is that it’s legal to shoot a fleeing felon, but I don’t know if that’s going to be the case here. I think that even after all the witness testimony and physical evidence is considered it’s not going to be an easy call to make.
I do know that in total, the whole situation makes me believe that fleeing from a routine traffic stop and continuing to flee after a taser has been deployed are not the best options to choose if you want to live to be old and gray. That doesn’t make the cop innocent, but it’s worth remembering.
Yup...did you look at the photo the site claims was an officer doing CPR....with Scott still laying face down?
How exactly does one do CPR to someone laying face down?
And why do the reports posted at the same site make no mention of Slager being tasered at all?..or taser barbs?
Sorry...I found no credible evidence to support the assertion made that Slager had taser barbs in him.
No idea. What reason could there be? I wonder whether we have seen all the reports, or just those they decided to release.
Maybe he wasn’t tased, or maybe he was, and the prongs didn’t make skin contact? I don’t know much about tasers. I am hoping to learn more when the trial comes.
But, I am not going to trust the media one bit on this tragic situation. Too many are rushing to judgement.
Or, given that he apparently was willing to assault an officer and take his weapon, maybe he would have done something more serious. To me it’s not just obvious that he wasn’t a danger to other people. That’s why the common law allowed cops to shoot fleeing felons: they are potentially dangerous to other people. SCOTUS has apparently narrowed the law but the basic principle is still there.
Why no mention of slager being tasered in the reports from other officers?
Dont you think that would be relevent in a cop involved shooting?
What IS clear is that whatever Slager put in his report conflicted with the video because they didnt even hesitate to charge him.
That isn’t obvious to me, considering what happened in Ferguson MO and NYC.
The powers that be in Charleston might have charged him, in an attempt to forestall a similar situation.
That is why I think we should wait for all the evidence to come out at the trial.
Anyone care to speculate about the consequences of a “no-bill” from the grand jury, or a “not guilty” verdict? Will Charleston explode like Ferguson, will more cops be assassinated like NYC?
Sad times for law enforcement, no matter what the outcome.
I can't imagine, under any circumstances, that the police would withhold that information if it were true.
Not sure that someone just thru a tasinng would be able to put rounds on target — just sayin’. Demostrations of tasing that I have seen show an individual that is incapacitated for several minutes at least.
my main point is, the media and the lawyers are doing exactly what they did in the other recent police shootings and Zimmerman. Wait til the whole story comes out then we’ll see. Way to many missing pieces so far.
