Rand Paul On Shutdown: "Even Though It Appeared I Was Participating In It, It Was A Dumb Idea"
I said throughout the whole battle that shutting down the government was a dumb idea. Even though it did appear as if I was participating in it, I said it was a dumb idea. And the reason I voted for it, though, is that it's a conundrum. Here's the conundrum. We have a $17 trillion debt and people at home tell me you can't give the president a blank check. We just can't keep raising the debt ceiling without conditions. So unconditionally raising the debt ceiling, nobody at home wants me to vote for that and I can't vote for that. But the conundrum is if I don't we do approach these deadlines. So there is an impasse. In 2011, though, we had this impasse and the president did negotiate. We got the sequester. If we were to extend the sequester from discretionary spending to all the entitlements we would actually fix our problem within a few years.

Rand Paul: Time for GOP to soften war stance
...by softening its edge on some volatile social issues and altering its image as the party always seemingly "eager to go to war... We do need to expand the party and grow the party and that does mean that we don't always all agree on every issue" ... the party needs to become more welcoming to individuals who disagree with basic Republican doctrine on emotional social issues such as gay marriage... "We're going to have to be a little hands off on some of these issues ... and get people into the party," Paul said.

Rand Paul's immigration speech
...The Republican Party must embrace more legal immigration.

Unfortunately, like many of the major debates in Washington, immigration has become a stalemate-where both sides are imprisoned by their own rhetoric or attachment to sacred cows that prevent the possibility of a balanced solution.

Immigration Reform will not occur until Conservative Republicans, like myself, become part of the solution. I am here today to begin that conversation.

Let's start that conversation by acknowledging we aren't going to deport 12 million illegal immigrants.

If you wish to work, if you wish to live and work in America, then we will find a place for you...

This is where prudence, compassion and thrift all point us toward the same goal: bringing these workers out of the shadows and into being taxpaying members of society.

Imagine 12 million people who are already here coming out of the shadows to become new taxpayers.12 million more people assimilating into society. 12 million more people being productive contributors.

Rand Paul calls on conservatives to embrace immigration reform
Latinos, should be a natural constituency for the party, Paul argued, but "Republicans have pushed them away with harsh rhetoric over immigration." ...he would create a bipartisan panel to determine how many visas should be granted for workers already in the United States and those who might follow... [and the buried lead] "Imagine 12 million people who are already here coming out of the shadows to become new taxpayers...

Rand Slams Congress for Funding Egypt's Generals: 'How Does Your Conscience Feel Now?'

Walker is from an ag state that borders Iowa and is close buds with the long-time Iowa governor, whose machine is backing Walker. No need fro fine-tuned messages.

Once Carson’s and Huchabee’s people move their support to Cruz, he’ll have 32%.

The caucus is 10 months away. And any polls showing Ben Carson and Mike Huckabee in the top 5 are going to change a whole lot between now and then

Yes. A massive economic crash and/or civil war is inevitable in our country. Either we let it happen on Hillary's watch, or we get someone in there that will delay the inevitable a few more years.

So, if the crash/war is going to happen in the next 4/8 years, yes, bring on Shrillary.

I asked a question. You fired random unsupported shots. WTG.

No, you made an allegation in the form of a question.

Rush did seem to be more impressed with Walker, however.

As he should be. I think Walker’s numbers blew up because of his speech at in Iowa a few months back. Also voters started to see the results that Walker has done with Democrats fighting him at every stance but yet Walker still prevails. Voters like a fighter and doer and that is why Walker maybe just be the next President of the United States. That is if their is any justice in America anymore.

I’m okay with either Walker or Cruz winning, although I strongly prefer Cruz.

As for Jeb Bush, Marco Rubio, and Chris Christie, I will not vote for an anti-2nd Amendment candidate, nor will I vote for someone who supports Amnesty or Obamacare. I’m flexible on most things, but those three issues are existential threats to our country, and Christie fails in all three areas, while Bush is at best questionable on them and a catastrophic failure on Amnesty.

Then there’s Ben Carson, Mike Huckabee, Rand Paul, and Donald Trump. Carson is too inexperienced and does not understand the 2nd Amendment. I might warm to him over time (perhaps a couple terms in the US Senate), but not in 2016. Huckabee has tried too many times and can’t win with a national audience. Rand Paul is quirky, with a bonus that his father is nuts. I’m not thrilled with Paul, but I might consider him. Trump worries me. He’s better than any democrat, but I’m not sure what he would really do.

What is gun grabber Carson doing in the middle of these polls? Are we going to nominate a candidate because he’s black next?

I am not saying he is, but I honestly don't care what he says. He could say the moon is purple and as long as he doesn't push any agenda making the moon purple then I don't care what he says. I feel the same way about all these issues. He can say whatever he wants. His actions say otherwise on all the stupid negative comment that people beat him over the head with. Again we hear politicians say nice surgery crap all day long and vote for them but never get our issues met. I want Walker because he says some things that may be dramatic, but his actual bills do not match the rhetoric.

I’ll second that emotion. Plus wait til Walker’s recent amnesty remarks at a private GOP dinner get around.
