Obama beat Hillary because he was Black and could count on massive African-American support. Plenty of Whites also voted for him because of the "first Black president" thing. And he was something of an unknown quantity, so voters could project whatever they wanted onto him.

None of these factors applies to Warren. She doesn't have the vote of any solid bloc of ordinary citizens. No, the fake "Native American" thing won't take her very far, it's hard to see how she can play the woman card if she defeats the woman who's gotten the farthest in the presidential electoral process so far.

People have or will have a clear idea of where she stands, so she won't benefit from a fuzzy image either. The more people know her the less they'll like her.

Thanks to her outspoken stand against big banks and the top 1 percent, Warren is the darling of progressives. She won her Senate seat thanks to millions of dollars in donations from outside Massachusetts, including from rich environmentalists and Hollywood celebrities.

Warren has said she does not want to run. They’ll be dragging her into the race reluctantly in contrast to the many (younger and more experienced) eager and enthusiastic candidates on the GOP side. I like those odds.
