AN HONEST POLITICIAN!

Yes, we know that politicians are famous for making campaign statements and commitments that once elected, we never hear again.

But there is one exception. See if you can identify who it is! On the CBS news program, “Meet the Press,” Sunday, September 7, 2008, this candidate was asked a number of questions:

1. Why don’t you wear an American flag pin in your lapel? “As I’ve said about the flag pin, I don’t want to be perceived as taking sides. There are a lot of people in the world to whom the American flag is a symbol of oppression.”

2. On the same program, the candidate was asked why he didn’t follow the proper protocol stated in the United States Code, Title 36, Chapter 10, Sec. 171…

“During rendition of the national anthem, when the flag is displayed, all present (except those in uniform) are expected to stand at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart.”

The candidate’s response: “The anthem itself conveys a war-like message. You know, the bombs bursting in air and all that sort of thing. “The National Anthem should be ‘swapped’ for something less parochial and less bellicose. I like the song ‘I’d Like To Teach the World To Sing.’

"If that were our anthem, then, I might salute it. In my opinion, we should consider reinventing our National Anthem as well as ‘redesign’ our Flag to better offer our enemies hope and love.”

3. What are your plans maintaining a strong national defense? “It’s my intention, if elected, to disarm America to the level of acceptance to our Middle East Brethren. If we, as a Nation of warring people, conduct ourselves like the nations of Islam, where peace prevails….

Even sadder, Obama wasn't on "Meet the Press" on September 7, 2008. The guests that day were Joe Biden and Tom Friedman. Transcript

Coach is wrong.

Actually these quotes would be shocking if Obama had said them all.

Obama is a talented politician. He simply did not say much of this. Seriously, you believe that he said his wife disrespected the flag and went to flag burnings? I challenge you to prove it.

If you will provide a reputable link to him actually saying this stuff, I’ll re-consider. But it has to be a reputable link with either a transcript or preferably a video ... not an assertion on some goofball’s blog.

But I seriously doubt Obama said this.

Obama is bad enough. conservatives do not need to make up quotes, and they do a disservice to the cause of liberty when they do.
