When a criminal attacks police with a weapon, there are cases where they can probably take him down without using lethal force, but lets be realistic. Once you attack police with a weapon capable of causing harm, theyre not obligated to pussyfoot around. And anyone who does that needs to keep something that basic in mind. Or get shot.
The rallying cry in Ferguson was Hands up, dont shoot! In New York, it was I cant breathe! In Pasco these days, the protest signs say things like It was just a rock!!!
In a case with unmistakable echoes of Ferguson and New York, demonstrators have gathered every day over the past week in front of City Hall to demand answers in the deadly police shooting of Antonio Zambrano-Montes, a 35-year-old Mexican immigrant and former orchard worker who authorities say was throwing rocks at officers.
The Feb. 10 killing captured on cellphone video by an onlooker was the fourth by law enforcement officers in Pasco in less than a year. It has sparked calls for a federal investigation and roiled this fast-growing agricultural city of 68,000, where more than half the residents are Hispanic but few are members of the police force or the power structure
All three officers two whites and one Hispanic opened fire;
It was just a rock is not an argument. Cops do overreact in some cases, but who thinks that throwing rocks at cops should be a right or should end well?
Rocks thrown at people can and do cause serious injuries. The entire narrative has melted down into, You should be free to attack cops without getting shot.
Thats a stupid narrative even by the low, low standards of this crowd.
Throwing rocks at armed men is a very, very good way to get killed.
Shouldnt the charge be attempted capital murder?
You don’t surrender by running away and that rock was bigger than his fist.
Don’t Muzzies throw rocks at women and kill them?
Well you stand there and let anyone throw a rock at you from 10 feet or so. Any rock over lets say half a oz that’s hits you in the head could do serious damage.
If you don’t think so find some one then let then hit you in the head and face with it.
I guess you don’t know any thing about Bulls.
The video says it was an execution - every cop who fired a shot needs to be put away for a long time.
“Once you attack police with a weapon capable of causing harm, theyre not obligated to pussyfoot around. “
You are thinking of long past days when policing was a man’s job which involved a man’s Judgment and Responsibility. In former days once the resistance/violence started a cop could decide IN THE MOMENT what type of force and how much was used.
Today, however, there are a huge number of police “operators” who are on the job for purely political reasons WHO CANNOT DO THE JOB AND THUS HAVE NO LEEWAY IN MATTERS OF FORCE. This is why “training” has replaced Manhood as the guiding principle. And it is why cops can’t tolerate ANY type of resistance at all. In short: “They’re scared to death...” (Black NYPD cop talking to radio host.)
I assume that the "you" at whom your comment is directed is the author of this piece (Greenfield) and not me.
That said, by curious coincidence I happen to be a really old fart who went through Police Training (of the Military variety) almost exactly 46 years ago. I also have the privilege of having a close relative who is a current officer with the biggest big city PD in the Midwest.
That said, I concur with your assessment of "then versus now." (Fortunately, my relative is known respectfully by his brother officers as being distinctly "old school.")
Yep. Execution.
You’re wasting your time———the FR cop haters only hear what they want to hear and read what they want to read.
.
Montezuma was killed by a rock thrown by one of his own people.
Maybe police don’t want stoning to death.
Thanks for the personal statement, but it offends those of us who are rational.
You sound like a liberal, conservatives “hate” whatever they find fault with, cops if discussing policing, teachers if discussing education, non-whites if discussing race issues, gays if discussing marriage and such, women if abortion comes up, democrats, liberals, etc, hate-hate-hate.
Why would a police officer have less of a right to self-defense than anyone else?
Your "argument" - such as it is - is just silly.
Argument?
You must mean the video of the cops running down the man and executing him, after missing him in their first shooting.
If someone threw a rock at you, ran, and then turned to confront you - would you wait to see if he had another rock, and then try to guess if he'd be able to seriously injure you with it? Or would you defend yourself?
This was not the first time the idiot in question did this either.
If you throw rocks at people, you are asking to get killed.
He was stopped, and the video of the execution speaks for itself, your posts are both silly and childish as you want to pretend that what was captured on video isn’t what we are seeing.
I think that if anyone besides American police were videoed doing what they did, that everyone would see it as an execution, whether it was GIs somewhere, or robbers who just chased a store clerk outside, or Cuban police, but some of you are so conditioned, that you will justify any action that these union city police take in America.
