Well that didn’t last long – our “Strategic Patience” strategy I mean. Now Big Guy wants Congress to give him a new authorization to use military force. Because he’s demonstrated his ability to handle it so well in the past. The only thing that concerns me is that he can’t seem to decide who or what he wishes to use this new authorization against.
I don’t know how you defeat an enemy when you can’t even settle on what to call them. You say ISIS, I say ISIL, lets call the whole thing off:

Furthermore, without troops on the ground, I certainly would not want to fly sorties into their country, because how do they intend to extract any downed pilots?

Actually, Obama wants Congress to give him authority to do nothing more than they are currently doing. He needs someone to climb into bed with him since he started down this road “on his own”. He needs scapegoats and strawmen for future failures.
He gets to double down now, with the media’s help. He gets to claim he is working with Congress, is getting tough on “bad people” and not actually going to war. His neophyte mentality convinces him this satisfies his stupid critics and followers alike. He thinks he is so clever. My dog is more cunning when she steals food from the counter. At least she eats the inorganic evidence too and hides when she suspects she is busted.

If he was really serious, he’d call them DAESH because they absolutely hate that term.
Send a gun to every man woman and child in ISIS occupied areas, and tell them to kill anyone carrying an ISIS flag
Make it a capital punishment to promote ISIS, with citizens allowed to carry out immediate sentencing
Let them solve it themselves
