I think I may have knocked boots with her in Rancho Cucamonga, 1998.
She said she was disappointed, unhappy and thoroughly disgusted.
Oh well. What cha gonna do?

Every argument about “privilege”:

Life isn’t fair so you need to feel guilty!

Her solution is access to things money can buy. School choice would be a big help, but having an intact family may be the most neglected concept in the education of the youth of today.

All the money in the world will not help the kids she describes.

Progs have destroyed their families, and other people’s money is the only answer they have.

I’m ready to give up my White privilege in exchange for the combined net worth of Sharpton, Jackson and Oprah.

I call BS on this story. The students get free breakfast and lunch at school. If the kids aren’t eating, it is Michelle zobama’s fault.

What I wish more people were talking about is that there are two American educations: One for the affluent, and one for students living in poverty.

The difference is not the education. The difference is the culture. When kids are instilled with the poverty culture, they don't do very well in school. They learn to blame "the rich" or whites or someone, but avoid looking inward at their own attitudes and habits.

A kid who is born into poverty but manages to reject the poverty culture can study and do very well later on. I'm a living example of that.

White Privilege is just another version of Marxism. Have to take from the privileged and give to the oppressed.

Pray America is waking

The privilege is not only as to education but is more fundamental and comprehensive. It is the privilege of having and being raised by a mother and father who are married and who organize their household and conduct their lives so as to give the highest priority to the care and rearing of their children.

There’s a lot of worry about the thousands and thousands of Chinese moving in. But when they take over a city there’s one thing you can count on — the school kids’. Test scores shoot up. And all of a sudden the schools are “ highly rated” even if they’ve not changed much at all The difference is that the Chinese culture says the rugrats go home and actually do their homework. Imagine that !!!!!

"The blogger teaches AP English? I guess they quit failing students for excessive comma splicing? Her grammar is less than stellar and indicative of a lowering of standards. If it feels good, insert a comma."

My students absolutely refuse to learn what comma splices are. I would wager that most people are ignorant in regards to comma splices.

I would wager that one out of ten people MIGHT know how to identify one, but not much more than that.

Every year one of the charities I give to is Alliance for School Choice,

Much different than being taxed to pay for teaching kids stuff I don’t agree with,.

Hopefully some of those saved kids will realize how the government abandoned them and people used their free will to save them.

So, if you take care of children, take an interest in their academics and generally look after them properly, that is “Privilege.”
Go figure.

If your students aren't learning it's your fault, and the Parents fault
for keeping them under your ignorance. Money does not equal learning.

During dinner I was answering some questions by my daughter about the Cold War. She said she learned more tonight than she has in the past two weeks in class. (Although I see that we did spen over two hours talking about things, clarifying stuff on the internet, etc.)

“How do you know so much about all of this stuff!?”

Whereas it is generally true that Chinese students come from a culture that prizes education much more than some other groups, there are "bummy" Chinese students as well, and some that belong to gangs. These latter Chinese students use their smarts to make smart-aleck remarks to teachers, devise ways of cheating on tests, etc. instead of striving for high grades. In this, they are no better than the lowest of the low among the student population.

Unfortunately, many recent immigrants choose the lowest of the low as their American role models, having seen too many American movies featuring gangsta culture and ill-mannered snarky children. The first words they learn are those that begin with "F", "D", "S", and "H". They don't even fully understand the filth of those words, cheerfully injecting them into practically any conversation they hold.
