MICHELLE OBAMA ONCE GOT ASKED FOR HELP AT TARGET, THINKS IT WAS PROBABLY RACIST

MICHELLE OBAMA ONCE GOT ASKED FOR HELP AT TARGET, THINKS IT WAS PROBABLY RACIST By Emily Zanotti 12.17.14

Look. I honestly believe that yes, there are lingering vestiges of racism in our society. You don't exorcise something that pervasive in modern culture in less than a century. Occasionally - not regularly, but occasionally - we've all been known to make varying assumptions about other people based on existing stereotypes.

I have no doubt that, in their lifetimes, the Obamas have experienced lots of instances of discrimination based on skin color, and I think that's a tragedy. However, I do not think being asked to reach something on a high shelf at a big box retail store is one of those instances.

"I tell this story – I mean, even as the first lady – during that wonderfully publicized trip I took to Target, not highly disguised, the only person who came up to me in the store was a woman who asked me to help her take something off a shelf. Because she didn't see me as the first lady, she saw me as someone who could help her. Those kinds of things happen in life. So it isn't anything new," Michelle Obama, who is 5'11", said.

Frankly, speaking as someone who is, shall we say, a perfectly-formed miniature human being, sometimes we short people just need something off a really high shelf. And when that happens we have two choices: climb the flimsy Target infrastructure in pursuit of the comically-oversized budget bag of toilet paper and risk getting a concussion from Extra-Soft Charmin, or ask someone who is of normal human stature to reach it for us.

There appears to be a lot of scenario fabrication going on these days.

Of course, that’s probably due to the fact that we people out here in fly-over country don’t conduct ourselves in accordance with the stereotypes assigned to us by our betters, so they have to continually invent stuff to keep their narratives from crashing and burning.

I was axed to reach something by a short black woman, I smiled and helped her.

Another case of microaggression, assuming she could not do it because she was black, I suppose.

I like helping people anyway.

I’m a pretty tall white woman. People have asked for my help at stores. I’ve always been happy to assist. Her problem with being asked for help says a lot more about her than anyone else. She’s a miserable person who only cares about herself. She hates this country and everyone in it.

Believe me, if they were racist, they wouldn’t go near her or even talk to her.

What a RACIST B**CH.

She got asked to help someone in a store, because she is a skyscraper with tentalces for arms.

She brought it up later, because she is a racist.

She was probably wearing a red shirt and brown slacks; it had nothing to do with the color of her skin.

Dozens of times I’ve been stopped, I am not black, but I give people eye contact, maybe they know when they see me I like to help people. I LOVE to help, and never thought it strange when someone asks me for help... I think they have a chip on their shoulder.

I have had people ask me to help them in stores. I guess since I am white it isn’t racist.

In hearing the interview, Mooch mentioned the person was “short”. What does she have against short people? She additionally commented twice that when the short person came up to her, she thought her “cover” was blown. Actually, she mentioned that twice. I think Mooch is more upset with NOT being recognized than being racially profiled.

There is no way Michelle was ever mistaken for a Target employee. The way Michelle dresses it would be hard for her to pass for a Goodwill employee.

I’ve been in a store where someone who couldn’t reach something asked if I would get it for them. I loved doing that. Moochelle on the other hand made it a big deal (lie) and turned it into a racist thing where a white woman asked her for help ... G-d I dislike those two .....

I often ask taller people to help me retrieve an item off a high shelf. Most are happy to help me out, and I often to the same for others.

It’s the American way.

Racist or wise?

Discrimination like the difference between lightning and lightning bug to parrot Mark Twain.

We have to discriminate in life to live.

Tonight Martin Levin related the story that Valerie Jarret asked a 2 star General in formal dress at a reception to fetch her some coffee which he did without comment.
