Any idea how this turned out? Was the driver arrested?
The driver was taken into custody, but no charges have been filed. From kmove:
The driver was released from police custody as detectives continue their investigation.
Two protesters, ages 18 and 38, suffered minor injuries, but nobody was seriously injured.
That’s OK, I know what you meant and was agreeing with you.
There is video at the link in post 22. I do not see any protesters on the ground as the van appears to slowly drive *around* the group. The protester who was on the hood is seen in front of the van for a bit, then the van speeds up, not terribly fast, getting out of the immediate area.
someone queue up the 1970s Death Race 2000 pics.
Tomorrow’s news today. On a good night. Welcome to the future.
We just got one.
I wonder if the fool on the hood knows how lucky he is that the Citizen in the van didn’t lure him in closer to the wind shield by flipping him off...
What’s the drivers FR name?
What kind? I use a Fujifilm - can record for nine minutes then saves and then records again. I have a 32GB storage disk. Got it on sale for $60 - works great.
We should examine this from the point of view of “practical tactical”. That is, keeping it realistic, not fantasy stuff, imagine you are the armed driver of a vehicle confronted by indeterminate (peaceful or violent) people blocking the road.
An axiom is that you cannot evade, u-turn or escape. If you could, you would. So you might be surrounded by individuals who have to be considered hostiles. You might be boxed in by vehicles behind you.
If they have guns or heavy projectiles, they are close enough for you to be in grave danger. So immediately get your gun at the ready, round in the chamber, safety off. You might only have a fraction of a second to have to fire.
If no immediate threat, lean on your horn, while being prepared to move forward. If they refuse to clear, let your vehicle roll forward on its own, ready to brake or hit the gas immediately.
In the final analysis, if you have to run over one or more people, keep going until the next police station. As with an armed confrontation, say “I was in fear for my life”.
I will yield to an expert on the viability of shooting through front safety glass, or driver and passenger glass, as well as shooting through wall panel.
actually two car cams, one forward and one backward facing. there are some units that have front/rear together, and some that have four cams for full 360 coverage.
can’t deny who attacks who first if its on video. if you drive alone dashcams are a necessity to refute lying witnesses/drivers. just don’t hand the memory to cops, it’s your evidence. swap out the card with another or hand them a different card save the real one.
i wouldnt through the front windshield. all other windows are made to be smashed out. metal in modern cars will not stop gunshots from inside or ouside.
the whole back hatch of the van looks kicked in.
hjow will the media explain this could be done from inside the van?
I do just that. I have another Sandisk just for that purpose.
Well I dam sure wouldn’t have gotten out. I probably would have floored it. They’re lucky he was so calm.
I don’t know. My husband ordered it and the box got here today. :)
Previously, we had a small video camera set up. I thought it worked great.
The man exhibits all the traits one should have in a SHTF situation - when someone actively tries to stop your vehicle, you must consider that no good is intended and be prepared. He did everything right and the media hasn’t a clue that they ought to be praising his situational awareness and restraint instead of trying to tarnish his image.
