When People are filmed on the show Cops, the Producers need a signed Release Form to show their Faces.
Yes, even the dumbest Criminals sign a Release to get on TV.
I guess the Cops will have to have a Box of Releases in the Trunk of their Patrol Cars.
Yup. The data-mining potential is HUGE. Cop approaches anyone, their criminal record is immediately presented (audio or visual). Regardless of record, location of _everyone_ (face, license plate, or other identifying features - even if just shirt color) seen is documented. Going even further: software exists to evaluate & predict behavior as extracted from live video.
Shades of “Good afternoon, Mr. Yakamoto” (_Minority_Report_).
“what will the ... storage of data cost be?”
One year of 24/7/365 video in HD can fit on 1TB, costing under $50.
Don’t trust Obama one bit - but cams on cops is a GREAT IDEA. No downside.
sounds good, now all the 300K/year .gov employees needed to handle this for us....
