Celebrate William F. Buckley’s birthday with his tension-filled 1967 Saul Alinsky interview

Buckley attempts to cut to the heart of Alinsky’s philosophy, and Alinsky bobs and weaves around Buckley’s jabs, in a characteristically obfuscatory fashion.

In the video, Alinsky makes some interesting assertions, including:

(i) “I’ll steal before I take charity.”

(ii) “You only get power as a reaction to a threat.”

(iii) “[That Alinsky is] very much in agreement with the thinking of the early revolutionaries…men like Madison, Jay, Hamilton, etc.”

(iv) “People only do the right things for the wrong reasons.”

He sounded so disarming, sorta like Hitler before he erupted into frantic German.

This is the guy who taught Hillary and Hussein all he knew.

And they sat there and lapped it all up.

Much as I admired WFB, I have no interest in watching him interview Satan. Why foul my mind and spirit with the hideous burblings of this evil vermin?

Take everything Jesus taught and do the exact opposite, then you’d have Alinsky.

He did dedicate his book, “Rules for Radicals” to Lucifer.

"why"

Because many people, like me, who tuned in to watch Buckley often debate people with opposite views, eventually came to understand how many liberal/leftist ideas and plans are morally bankrupt.

I didn't see that particular interview, but I watched Firing Line quite a bit in the seventies. That probably helped turn me from the liberalism I grew up with into the conservative I am today. Remember, Buckley wasn't just preaching to the choir. Many people tuned in to those debates believing their leftist hero would easily crush the ignorant conservative. They were often shocked when their leftist hero, like Alinsky, turned out to be lying fraud who couldn't answer a straight question if his or her life depended on it.

I'm sure many leftist "heroes" of that time dreaded going on Firing Line and refused invitations to appear.

Alinsky was like many leftists of that time and still exist today. They actually believed they held the truth...poor people were only poor because the huge white-dominated power structure kept them down.

The reality that many people by themselves created the sad situation they found themselves in was and still is totally ignored by the activists. Alinsky was the rare leftist who really believed the b.s. he spread. Many were and are simply in it for the money.
