"What in God's name is Pope Francis doing?"
La Salette Journey ^ | November 23, 2014 | Paul Melanson

As reported in The Boston Globe:

"What in God’s name is Pope Francis, a Jesuit, doing? Does he understand the outrage of parents worldwide at rampant priest child abuse? Pressures beyond Vatican control, as I discuss in detail below, can be expected soon to compel much more severe changes if Francis fails to act now effectively and transparently both to curtail child abuse and to make the hierarchy, including himself, accountable to independent Catholic oversight.

This governmental pressure has already begun to be applied with respect to Vatican finances, as a result of the continuing European investigations of multiple misdeeds involving both the Vatican Bank and the Vatican’s own significant portfolio assets, as well as with respect to the investigation of the child abuse scandal by the remarkable Australian Royal Commission investing child abuse in organizations, including the Catholic Church.

Prospects worldwide for criminal prosecutions of Catholic Church officials have seemingly caused the Vatican to focus on overdue reforms in ways that earlier financial penalties and even shameful publicity had rarely done, but has Pope Francis and his advisers yet gotten enough of the message? One must be skeptical here.

The Catholic Church is not a cult. Jesus Christ gave the keys of the kingdom to St. Peter, when Jesus said “You are Peter and upon this rock I will build My Church” Apostolic succession from that time until today.

They add their man-made amendments and then forbid Catholics to read the Bible. Their Bible studies consists of re-constructing the Bible in a way that supports their heretical belief.

you come up with some of the most inane anti-Catholic statements that I have ever seen....You seem to have a deep seatred hatred for whatever reason there might be.....and you are ALWAYS wrong.

-——Catholics WROTE the Bible-——

Wait.....’ Paul, John, Luke, Matthew were Catholics?

That pretty amazing since Roman Catholic church was formerly legalized by Constanstine around the mid third century...

Before that the church was a loose body of believers under no formal name...

kinda think that God didn't write anything....He did His writing through the efforts of man (excluding the ten commandments and the stone placques given to Moses of course). He used the Catholic Church as His medium of communication to mankind...everyone knows that. I read in the bible this week the reading from the book of Ezekiel 34:1-12, 15-17 which I read at Mass. I also read the Gospel from Matthew25:31-46 where God holds us responsible for our WORKS wherein He sayy that if you served My needs when I was hungry, unclothed, imprisoned, thirsty etc you cared for Me thus you are saved, however those who ignored My needs and thus the needs of other people were CONDEMNED, just as St James pointed out when he mentioned the importance of our works as well as our faith.....faith without works....not so good!!!

Sola Scritura...that isn't enough for Catholics. It was enough for Christians for centuries, but not now?

let's see, those would be 17th, 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries...before that noboby considered it at all. But thanks to the enlightened Martin Luther and his ilk, we now know better than did Christians for the first 1,600 years of their religion. I love it when people come along many thousands of years after an event and reinterpret it to suit their misguided beliefs.

Well, except Jesus, who condemned tradition saying that it was used to make the law of God of no effect:

(Matt 15:1-9)
Then Pharisees and scribes came to Jesus from Jerusalem and said, “Why do your disciples break the tradition of the elders? For they do not wash their hands before they eat.”

He answered them, “And why do you break the commandment of God for the sake of your tradition? For God said, ‘Honor your father and your mother,’ and, ‘Whoever speaks evil of father or mother must surely die.’ But you say that whoever tells father or mother, ‘Whatever support you might have had from me is given to God,’ then that person need not honor the father. So, for the sake of your tradition, you make void the word of God. You hypocrites! Isaiah prophesied rightly about you when he said:
‘This people honors me with their lips,
    but their hearts are far from me;
in vain do they worship me,
    teaching human precepts as doctrines.’”

They are messes. I had a child in a Jesuit school. The principal was a crossdressing Jesuit.

where, when, and after being discovered, what was the result of the investigation and was there an arrest of any sort??

nonsense, yes they were Catholic or universal...they were called that within the first century. Constatine did indeed formally give them acknowledgement, but they were Catholic long before then......formal name???, you are probably correct, what then is a formal name? They were referred to as Catholic and formality is merely someones idea of what ever they consder it is.

My denomination was started by Jesus

GREAT, then, of course you are a Catholic and have no need to refer to your religion as a denomination. Denominations were instituted to give the myriad of Christian groups that had disassociated themselves from Christ's true church a way to keep themselves identified. The Lutherans needed to be separate from the Methodists, from the Anglicans, from the Baptists, from the evangelicals, from the....well you catch on I assume.

Must have been one of those faux Catholics. And even if...at mass we have 3 readings and a Psalm from the Bible and most of what the priest says comes directly from the Bible and his homily is a reflection of that day’s Gospel.

terycarl says "let's see, those would be 17th, 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries...before that noboby considered it at all. "

Jesus said "It is written Man shall not live by bread alone but by every Word that proceeds from the mouth of God"
Matt 4:4 NKJV

So I can believe you OR Jesus. Not really a hard choice for me.
