Missouri Governor Jay Nixon has just declared a State of Emergency in the state, specifically citing unrest in Ferguson.
The order begins:
"WHEREAS, the City of Ferguson and the St. Louis region have experienced periods of unrest over the past three months; andThe governor then specifically states that the people of Missouri may be in danger: "WHEREAS, our citizens and businesses must be protected from violence and damage."WHEREAS, the United States Department of Justice and St. Louis County authorities are conducting separate criminal investigations into the facts surrounding the death of Michael Brown; and
WHEREAS, the United States Department of Justice and St. Louis County authorities could soon announce the findings of their independent criminal investigations"
Finally, Governor Nixon declares a State of Emergency:
NOW, THEREFORE, I, JEREMIAH W. (JAY) NIXON, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF MISSOURI, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and Laws of the State of Missouri, including Sections 44.010 through 44.130, RSMo, do hereby declare a State of Emergency exists in the State of Missouri.I further direct the Missouri State Highway Patrol together with the St. Louis County Police Department and the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department to operate as a Unified Command to protect civil rights and ensure public safety in the City of Ferguson and the St. Louis region.

Fortunately, it’s very cold here in St. Louis right now, wind chill of 12. So I hope it cuts down on the number of “protesters” (translation: “looters”), and that those who do go out freeze their patooties off.

It’s not a trial jury, no hung juries. They must decide whether or not to charge Darren Wilson with something. Either yes or no.
The rioters want to branch out from Ferguson and hit Clayton, for example, so that white people will notice and be inconvenienced.
Why the hell should the racial makeup of the jury even matter????
Justice should always be colour blind!

Last week some protesters announced they’d be hitting another town in Missouri if the GJ decision was not to their liking. Clayton, IIRC.
The 2nd amendment laughs at your “state of emergency”.
That _is_ the National Guard.
10 U.S. Code § 311 - Militia: composition and classes
(a) The militia of the United States consists of all able-bodied males at least 17 years of age and, except as provided in section 313 of title 32, under 45 years of age who are, or who have made a declaration of intention to become, citizens of the United States and of female citizens of the United States who are members of the National Guard.
(b) The classes of the militia are—
(1) the organized militia, which consists of the National Guard and the Naval Militia; and
(2) the unorganized militia, which consists of the members of the militia who are not members of the National Guard or the Naval Militia.

Clayton is where St. Louis County government is located. White people would notice a riot in Clayton. Most white people never even go near Ferguson.
justice would be blind, but blacks and their racism wont allow it.
This evening would be a good time to make the announcement. It is supposed to get down to 12 degrees in Ferguson tonight with a high tomorrow below freezing.
It is going to get back above freezing on Wednesday. So if they don't do it today then they will have to wait until the next cold front.
The Grand Jury is just a sanity check to see if there is enough evidence to even bother with a trial. There is no “hung jury” in this case, just a decision on whether or not there is a case to have a trial for.
And considering how long they’ve been trying to decide this one, if the GJ comes back with “no true bill” then there really is no way Wilson could be convicted of anything ... more like should his real trial start, the judge will likely look at the case, turn to the prosecutor, and say “what the he11 is this? you have no case, get out of my courtroom!”
I read through his proclamation, and there’s no mention of a curfew. If you’re establishing a state of emergency, and you’re expecting and preparing for violence occurring, why wouldn’t you put a curfew in place?
I’m near San Antonio and it’s supposed to be freezing tomorrow morning way down here.
Burning cars and stores is not a good source for heat. They burn to hot to get close to at first and then burn out quickly.
Ideal rioting weather is at least 60 degrees and dry. You can bus in rioters from out of town. Also, it is hard to carry flat screen TVs with a heavy coat on.
