Well said. History continues to repeat itself and some voters remain clueless.

The danger to America is not Barack Obama but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the presidency. It will be easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to an electorate willing to have such a man for their president. The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails us. Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The Republic can survive a Barack Obama. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president.”

Translated into English from an article appearing in the Czech Republic as published in the Prager Zeitung of 28 April 2010

Exactly..! I hate that guy, but you make an extremely important point.

As cliche as it sounds, yep, we’re drifting toward fascism here in the USA, and not so slowly, either.

“Public-Private Partnership”...? Sorry, but we used to call that by it’s proper name —FASCISM.

The Fourth Reich may well be the USA.

So am I suggesting Barack Obama and his progressive minions are going to throw their political detractors in concentration camps and commit mass murder? Absolutely not; such sensationalism would be propaganda fodder for the ever conniving politically correct. Rather, they’ll publicly humiliate anyone who claims otherwise just so they can focus on their true goal: the systematic and ideological destruction of America.

Actually I wouldn't call it impossible but they would have a much longer incremental road.

He called democrats, progressives, islamists and communists stupid, as conservatives had no part in passing this criminal monstrosity.

Today at work I was told that when calling in sick all employees need to now tell human services what is wrong, generally. IE head cold, chest cold....on and on. The employer states that this to provide the highest level of care and safety for employees and patients alike.

Since we now have to provide already, our cholesterol numbers, our weights and BMI, a nicotine sample, and our blood pressure. it feels even more coercive.

You mean the people of that town couldn't have surmised just by the smell? The camp wasn't that far out of town ... they knew, they knew .....

At one time logic and rational thinking was taught in American schools. Of course, even then, those tools were rarely used. More often we make decisions based on emotions and popular stereotypes. It’s far easier and immediately satisfying. “it’s our team (race, party, state) and we won, hurray.” On this forum I’ve read many analysis of what was wrong about subscribing to undefined transformation, hope and change. Why Obamacare was doomed and was based on a lie has been covered by numerous FReepers. So, rational thought is possible, if rare. It just isn’t valued or understood by the great majority of Americans.

Good points...the most modern, advanced, civilized society that brought the reformation and industry to the western world fundamentally transformed almost overnight. Germany became its own evil twin and gave us the holocaust. The USA could very well do the same...

The opening statements in this documentary tell it all. (Woman’s voice talking about how no one was ever a supporter of Hitler but no one ever denounced anyone else for what was done in their name)

The greatest dilemma facing America isn’t Republican vs. Democrat; the real battle for the supremacy of America’s soul is between Truth vs. Fiction, Right vs. Wrong and those who shamelessly plot to deceive the public for political/financial gain rather than to unite the masses under a banner of freedom and prosperity.

Well said. If Congress doesn't exhibit a full bore 'Stop Obama' performance, there may a revolution in this country. I don't know if the incoming freshman realize how important their behavior is. Congress needs to be the spear. We truly are at a tipping point.

Hard to believe no one from the town worked in the camp or no one from the camp was housed in town.

In their hearts and inner selves they knew what was going on at Dachau and elsewhere. It was the righteous indignation of US troops that forced them to deal with it up close and personal. Some commanders made the locals tour the camp. Some commanders made the local citizenry dig mass graves for the camps dead. More than a few locals after seeing what was done in their name killed themselves rather than have to deal with the shame and guilt. You’re right, they knew. But until the American troops arrived they did an awful good job of deceiving themselves.

One largely forgotten chapter is how many Germans committed suicide at the end. Something like 5000 civilian suicides in April alone that allied troops discovered.

They weren’t so much afraid of what the allies would do as they were afraid of living the rest of their lives with the guilt of what they had allowed.
