Bill Cosby was asked on NPR's Weekend Edition Saturday whether he had anything to say about the resurgence of allegations that he sexually assaulted multiple women years ago. He didn't. Instead, he shook his head, and refused to say a word.
Cosby's long comedy career and pedestal as one of America's favorite TV dads have been overshadowed in recent days, as the allegations have gained new attention, though they are not new. One of his accusers wrote an op-ed in The Washington Post on Thursday, an attempt at a Cosby meme generator was overrun with negative comments and Cosby's scheduled appearance on the Late Show with David Letterman next week has been canceled.
During all of this, Cosby has been silent. That silence continued in the interview broadcast Saturday morning.
NPR's Scott Simon, host of Weekend Edition Saturday, was interviewing Cosby and his wife, Camille, about a very different subject: their loan of more than 60 pieces of art to the Smithsonian's National Museum of African Art. They had a cordial discussion.
But then, at the end of the interview, Simon changed course. "This question gives me no pleasure, Mr. Cosby, but there have been serious allegations raised about you in recent days," he said. Cosby said nothing, and his body language couldn't be seen by radio listeners. Simon said, "You're shaking your head no."
It seemed as though the interview might have broached a subject that hadn't been agreed to beforehand, given that the story was originally about the art collection. "I'm in the news business," Simon explained. "I have to ask the question. Do you have any response to those charges?"
Again, Simon informed listeners that Cosby was shaking his head no.

I’ve never heard him make any conservative statements. People read some bogus email being passed around with some “conservative” statements attributed to him and actually believe he said/wrote it. Baloney.
Oh he might have been critical of aspects of “black culture” but that doesn’t make him conservative.
Herman Cain was never even accused of raping any one. He was lynched because he was a black conservative. Just like the attempted lynching of Clarence Thomas.

That speech does NOT make him a conservative. IIRC, he thinks AIDS was invented to kill black people. But he was right about some things.

Bill Cosby goes into black inner cities on a regular basis lecturing about family values. He wants men to stick by their women and children and he wants parents to stop beating their kids. (Black way overdo the physical punishment.) He’s written multiple books about it with his friend, Dr. Poissant, I think his name is.
Sorry to be hear about this. Hope it isn’t true but he certainly isn’t a perfect man.

The left (meaning the entire MSM) hates Cosby because he told blacks to act responsibly, speak English, and pull up their pants. There have been stories of him hitting on women for decades, so this story is nothing new, it’s just an opportunity for the left to bash him.
His speech was very well stated and made a lot of sense but it doesn’t necessarily run across the conservative-liberal divide. What black people are doing to themselves is not a left wing, liberal concept and neither is Cosby’s admonishment a conservative approach. They do run parallel to each other but it was more about self-respect and getting off their black butts to make something of themselves.
I bought lots of Cracker Jack in my day. Never got a prize more than two cents worth.
