How much does NYC contribute to making NY the 2nd worse state to do business in or do they share the blame.

So, what PONTIAC and his Ottawa braves could not do in 1763 the Dems have done in the last few years.

Detroit, and other cities outside of the eastern sea-board, are different than NYC.

True. Detroit's populace moved just outside the city limits where the suburbs are thriving, leaving the city underpopulated and in a negative tax situation.

With New York something as momentous as 911 didn't get people to leave it en masse.

New York is in a much different situation than Detroit. It's city center will probably never implode, but is could be an even more miserable place to visit or set up a business.

I lived in NYC for 22 years. Couldn’t wait to leave when I did. But the the analogy with Detroit is faulty. NYC has a very diverse economy (banking, huge port, publishing, advertising, media, arts, medicine, education, and tech). Further, gobs of foreign investment. Yes, the precariousness of the financial industry is something to be worried about if you’re an average New Yorker. But, in reality, a devastating terrorist attack is the greatest threat.

at least in Detroit you can have large numbers of houses with a little garden space....in NYC, you don't have that....even the illegals will despair and move out...

once buildings stop having tenants, city rot sets in...no incoming taxes, no upkeep, no buyers....

btw what has made NYC a great city once upon a time were the boroughs...the Bronx, Brooklyn,Saten Island etc...the rich ethnic heritage of the Poles, the Russians, the Chinese, the Irish the Italians, and the American blacks....

when heritage and culture is all gone, you have a nothingness..

It is ever since the Democrats decided everyone must live down to the lowest common denominator.
