Black Ohio Democrat Denounces "Plantation-Style" Management by His State Party

Democrat John Barnes, a member of the Ohio state legislature, has pulled back the curtain on the racial politics that pervade his party. Barnes, who is African-American, alleges in a lawsuit against the Ohio Democratic Party and its outgoing chairman Chris Redfern that he faced discrimination, retaliation, and defamation at the hands of his own party for refusing to join the Ohio Legislative Black Caucus and for raising the issue of racism by Democrats.

I don’t know whether the conduct Barnes alleges is legally actionable, but it certainly is revealing. As Paula Bolyard at PJ Media reports, Barnes describes a “plantation-style management of black public officials” by Ohio Democrats. Consider, for example, the reaction to Barnes’ decision not to join the Black Caucus.

Barnes made this decision because he feared it would harm his reputation to “associate with an organization whose moral compass he found to be troubling.” Members of the caucus have been convicted of felony and misdemeanor offenses in recent years.

Moreover, Barnes had the audacity to “want[] to be treated as an individual rather than as a member of a presumed monolithic block of votes based upon his skin color.” To make matters worse, he cooperated with Governor Kasich on the Medicaid expansion.

The Democrats didn’t take it well. According to Barnes, he was passed over for committee leadership positions in retaliation.

In addition, the party backed Barnes’ primary opponent. That’s an unusual step, but within the party’s rights. However, Barnes alleges that, in trying to defeat him, the party lied...

There seems to be a small groundswell of an awakening among Blacks that the Democrat Party is no longer their friend, let alone their party. And, if Obama pushes amnesty through via executive fiat, then we know that this will further disenfranchise Blacks. Whose jobs are the most at risk by this amnesty, anyway? The lower-paying ones, not the high-end techie jobs, lawyers, etc. The left are not fooling anybody with this mantra that they need these people for their smarts and expertise. After a decade or so, when the "dreamers" realize that they are locked into low-paying jobs that they consented to thinking they'd advance to be great-paying jobs, there will be anarchy in the streets...that is if the Blacks don't beat them to it.

It's never been their friend. Friends don't do to you what the Dems have done to blacks in America.

Democrats love the votes of Blacks so they can keep their cushy lifestyle. That’s the typical plantation model of the old South.

“...the Ohio Democratic Party and its outgoing chairman Chris Redfern”

Jeez, even their last names give them away. Redfern? What’s that some kind of crypto-semantics for “commie lesbian”?

Well, that would be Christopher Redfern, and he has been in the Ohio house for decades. But last week he was ousted in the election and Ohio conservatives are indulging in some major schadenfreud.

Now that he’s seeing the light, I wonder if he has considered switching parties.

He'd lose election for sure. Maybe after he's term limited out of the state house, or in his last term he can switch.
