Heh. Same thing happened to me. Member since 1998. And when I opened my new account I got all these “newbie” and “troll” accusations for saying what I always said. It’s just the way some (not all) people respond to something they disagree with.

And after a few days they stop monitoring every post. The site is just being careful that you are not a “plant”.

In the old days, if you started any HTML thing like “bold”, but did not close it, all the following posts would be bold until somebody turned it off in a later post.

It really was a bit higher class back then. I think nowadays Jim is trying to be careful that someone doesn’t say something that can be pulled from the site and used in the press to demonstrate we’re a bunch of nutcases.

His comments actually parallel what happened to me when I created a new account. Based on that, I lean in the direction of him being legit.

I avoided mentioning my previous handle for several years. When I was banned (without warning or cause, I might add), it created a bit of a stir.

But I actually used both handles in a thread one day - in the OP, I might add - and nobody noticed or cared.

Yes, but it was his response to it. It caught me by surprise when I did it too. His comments are the type I would have made when I created my new account, having been used to stuff posting instantly.
