Quarantine: I didn't know the virus has the intelligence to discern between a volunteer and a non-volunteer before infecting. Unbelievable.

On July 24, 1969 the astronauts from Apollo 11 returned home aboard the Command Module Columbia just before dawn local time, in the Pacific Ocean 2,660 kilometers (1,440 nautical miles) east of Wake Island, 380 kilometers (210 nautical miles) south of Johnston Atoll, and 24 kilometers (13 nautical miles) from the recovery ship, U.S.S. Hornet.” Upon reaching the Command Module, divers provided the astronauts with Biological Isolation Garments (BIGs) which were worn until they reached isolation facilities on board the U.S.S. Hornet.

Additionally the astronauts were scrubbed down with a sodium hypochlorite solution and the Command Module was wiped with Betadine to remove any lunar dust that might be present. The raft containing decontamination materials was intentionally sunk. Upon landing on the USS Hornet with the three astronauts on board, the helicopter was lowered into hangar bay #2 where the astronauts walked 30 feet to the Mobile Quarantine Facility (MQF) where they would begin 21 days of quarantine. This standard practice would continue for two more Apollo missions, Apollo 12 and Apollo 14, before the Moon was proven to be barren of life and the quarantine process dropped.

This fits with the regime's approval of quarantining soldiers but not civilians. You see, you quarantine the people at low risk of exposure but let the people at high expose go to restaurants and bowling allies, ride subways and go on long bike rides.

We should rename it Doctors Without Brains.

Now we know what “Doctors Without Borders” means. It means they can go anywhere they want to, even if they might have Ebola.

I had a 100% favorable view of that organization until these two idiots landed.

funny I heard a CDC official say that the quarantine would be a “disincentive” for medical workers to go to Africa to fight Ebola

these people are always going on about how everything they do is based on science.

When did “disincentive” a viable scientific principle of whether you do or do not do something.

simple truth is they work in an environment where they were exposed

No one can give a hundred percent guarantee they didn't contracted it.

quarantine it just one final safety precaution that reduces the odds, however remote, you might be a carrier and spread to the general population.. all for the cost of the small inconvenience.

no different than the astronauts ...they were visiting an area that was considered by all scientific evidence a completely lifeless void.

but we still took the additional safety precaution just in case it's called prudence and common sense

Anyone she has been around should sue her if she comes down with “obala”. Even if she does not come down with it, she should be sued for making people “afraid” that they may come down with it.

Judge Napolitano did a good job of ‘splainin’ it - Liberty is presumed and we need to be very careful about taking it away in blanket mode for “the common good”. Too many of our Freedoms are lost when we allow such for convenience and we actually go against the Constitution while telling ourselves it is OK this time/situation.

Bring out your dead! The Dark Man cometh! Bring out your dead! The Dark Man cometh! Bring out your......

(Since all records of obama's past were lost in a tragic boating accident and fire, no one can be certain that the guy in the red circle isn't him...)

Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.

The purpose of the “Bring Out Your Dead” ping list (formerly the “Ebola” ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.

So far the false positive rate is 100%.

At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the “Bring Out Your Dead” threads will miss the beginning entirely.

*sigh* Such is life, and death...

OK smart guy - draw the line where Freedom ends and "proactive confinement by the government begins". At what point does it hit the fine line between constitutionally legal and illegal?

Many claim to be Constitutionalists but end up being OK with rationalizing why we can trample on the Constitution for certain purposes/conveniences that make us feel better - I call those folks ASSES.

Your comments make no sense per the topic. Perhaps you also feel it's OK for the IRS to take money from folks accounts because, while within legal limits, their deposits indicate they could be up to something illegal.

You are a perfect example of what happens when supposed conservatives let their emotions walk all over their brains.

I hear a lot of mindless bloviating with no cogent content or argument. Did you ever notice how, when a Democrat doesn't have an answer that makes sense, they make statements such as your last couple responses to me?

Do you even remember the original topic of 'discussion? To refresh you, it was about trying to define the fine line between constitutional legality and illegality when it comes to depriving a citizen of their Freedom on a "could be" vs, a definite "is".

You seem to be fine with it but refuse to consider whether it's just one of those personal opinions that makes it Ok to step on the Constitution or if it's actually Constitutional. I pointed out that we had to be very careful because, when the Government removes any Freedom, for any reason, it usually finds ways to expand the number of reasons (in this case "could be") to further trash the Constitution. I pointed out that Judge Napolitano laid it our very well and you started the mindless name calling as a "response". Did you even hear or read what Napolitano said? If so, did you actually think about it? I notice that there are many here that say they believe in the Constitution, but who also find various "reasons" why we should scrap it.

as long as you feel free, we all might as well be exposed to germs that kill us
