I’m a cat person (though I love my dog, too!). In my opinion, a culture that hates dogs is unnatural. OTOH, these are people who cut off their daughters’ genitals and whip women for the “crime” of being rape victims. Who could be surprised at their treatment of animals?
Cats? Lemme tell you.
True story. I was in Bahrain in ‘92 on liberty. Bought some concoction from as street vendor and sat down on the curb to eat it (was quite tasty btw) while I waited for my buddies to come out of a shop. Along comes a scrawny kittie (and being a cat kind of guy) I peeled some of the meet out of whatever it was I was eating and started hand feeding kittie.
WELL, vendor saw this and got pissed, starts durka-durka-durka-ing and others started joining in. I’m all like WTF??? Next thing, I’m slowly walking away with my food, kittie is down and following me (cause I just fed the little runt) and they are advancing faster and no me buddies to be seen. I move faster, they move faster. I am kinda skipping, they are getting ready to an Olympic 100 meter dash. I literally got chased off a street for feeding a cat in that armpit of a country.
Once I started full on bail mode, never saw kittie again, hope the koranimals didn’t jihad it, but just damn. Those people are first class fruitcakes. You would think they would welcome cats to keep the pests away, but NOOOOOooooooo...
There are horrific stories about what the Taliban did to dogs.
I know that in Turkey cats are looked upon quite favorably.

Apparently, the woman and her son ran screaming and crying from the house when they met my two 'black girls'! We infidel Christians and our evil dogs!
It is sad that this woman was dumped by hubby and even sadder that the son will likely continue to be raised a muhamedan.

Heh. At first I read the headline as “Why we care for Animals and not Muslims.” (First, my dog doesn’t try to cut off my head!)
Our muslims neighbors, first thing they did when they moved in was complain to their landlord about our large black dog that was on their driveway. It wasn’t our dog, but another neighbor’s elderly and overweight black lab that patrols the neighborhood (slowly!).
It isn’t all muslims (I think Dubai likes dogs) - but a lot of them. Something to do with Mohammed. But even there there is a contratiction, ‘cuz there is some story about a dog saving mad mo, and he calls them blessed after that.
I like cats as well, I just don't think I could eat a whole one by myself.

They should’ve washed the dogs, as they were likely touched with the ‘unclean’ hand.
Muslims don’t dogs because when a angel visited someone ( I forget who ) the angel left because there was a dog under the furniture....

In fact they have rather complicated rules to determine which animal is clean and which is forbidden.
As a rule a ‘narghis’ or ‘cerpent’ type are ‘haram’ and considered dirty and unappropriate to enter home.
A dog is for some reason considered a ‘cerpent’.
As for cats they are enjoying an opposite treatment. AFAIK Mohammed himself was a cat owner, his cat was named ‘a father of all cats’ - don’t remember how is it in Arabic.
Killing or persecuting cats is mostly forbidden in Islam, cats are allowed to mosques and food sampled by cats considered cosher aka ‘halal’ for Muslims. I think Quran has a story of woman who went to hell for refusing a water to a cat.
Anyway, not all-crazy Muslims own the dogs, there are softened Fatwas for them which allows to have a dog in a backyard unless they are allowed into a house proper or even to touch a dog unless there is a contact with its bodily fluids.
In fact some Muslims are pretty ok with their pets to ignore even such a rules.
Correct me if I wrong who knows better.
Same. Mans best friend. For when your wife, yells, for when the bi-— cheats, nagging, or downright breaks your heart. One thing a dog will never do.
