What happens when you feed "food experts" McDonalds?
CRASHR ^ | 10-22-14 | The Looking Spoon

Here's what "food experts" have to say when they taste McDonalds under the pretense that it's organic food. (my favorite is the woman who says it tastes "more pure")

Pretentious BS. I've thought this about so-called "foodies" for a long time now.

It's food. Sure, there's good food and bad food, but we're in a bad place when people try to over-intellectualize it the way the people above and all of these chef reality shows do. We're basically treating food the same way we do abstract art now (half the time fancy restaurants even serve plates that look like it)

If you know the language you can watch the original video here.

And just what exactly is this “real” food that you’re talking about? One can argue the relative merits of nutrition and ingredient quality all day long, but it’s still just food. My family eats most meals at home because it’s healthy and cost effective, but tonight we enjoyed a fat-filled blowout at Five Guys. Was that better than McDonald’s? You bet, at more than twice the price! Chick-fil-A is also a cut above most other fast foods, and also costs more. But McDonald’s, Wendy’s and Burger King provide affordable options for eating on the go. Those might fall beneath your pretensions, but they’re all real food.

A preference for natural real food is not pretentious.

I had McD in Singapore a few weeks ago. Big Mac fries and a coke for $7.50.

Wonderful taste of home.

I almost recall Penn and Teller doing the same with dog and cat food and some other stuff. Instant potatoes, maybe some fishing eggs as caviar, etc.

It’s cheap, which is all that matters to many people.

Check out today's Mcdonald's. It's not so cheap any more.

Renmember when Consumer Reports trashed the Nissan Leaf in a review on nearly every point and then gave it one of their highest grades?

Because it was politically correct, of course.

You tell these fools that it is organic and green and it doesn't matter what it tastes like, they will praise it. All because of politics, not whether the product actually deserves the grade/praise. They do the same thing with people.

It was also amazing when the food value of salt, calories, etc., were tested by a laboratory reported on the nutritional values between the fast food and the upscale restaurant food. . . the Fast Food won every time.

McDonald’s is a low grade food

You know what else is barely food? All this gunk that vegans and eco-nuts pawn off on people.

McDonalds doesn’t use pink slime....McDonalds recently showed a film of their food making techniques...pink slime is not used!

McDonald’s is nasty.

I don't know what McD's has done in the past few years but their food has become damn-near become inedible. And I say this as someone who has eaten at McD's for decades. For one, their buns now taste like pancake batter. Their cheeseburgers have become sliders. I think there's more oats in their Quarter Pounder than beef.

I went years and years without ever setting foot in a Burger King but lately, when I need some fast food, I've found BK's quality has gone through the roof. They're almost Five Guys.

As a matter of fact that the only major users of “pink slime” is public schools.

Fast food is simply that - something to stave off hunger when you don’t have time to eat properly. Most fast food is OK, though the burgers have slipped in quality as the meat has gotten more expensive. McD, BK and Wendy’s couldn’t have stayed in business as long as they have if their food was as bad as some think.

I’ll concede that some people probably can tell the difference between regular food and food made from organic / grain fed / etc. ingredients, but I can’t - not going to pay more when it adds no value for me.

That’s like saying there’s no difference between Jim beam and a Glenlivet 18 yr old scotch.

McDonald’s coffee is actually quite good. Tastier than some Starbucks.
