Wonder how thick mine is.

My file would be listed under one of the following:

1. Who CARES?!

or

2. My gawd, she leads a boring life.

I also never minded if anyone listened in on my phone conversations. MORE boredom for the eavesdroppers.

MOST people do lead rather decent, quiet, boring lives consisting of families, work, friends, work, relatives, work, some vacation and more work.
RETIREMENT would simply replace "work" in that same sentence for those who FINALLY got to quit the job.

YOU, however, seemed to have stirred things up a bit.
GOOD for you.

Do you really think the file has all that much to do with being bad?

Agree with that. Sure, they have a file on me plus my fingerprints and a lot of other data, but I’m not aware of anything that could be considered “bad”.

During Nixon’s term, I took the Civil Service Exam and qualified. FBI did background check. Was selected to become a Customs Officer, first in Houston and then moving back near home when the DFW Airport opened to work there. Was notified one morning to report the next morning to complete the hiring process. ......The night before my hiring, Nixon went on TV and said that effective immediately he was cutting US government hiring by 1/3. Three of us had been selected for Customs work. Guess who got cut...ME!

Later, in early ‘70s, I was hired for a job that required a Top Secret clearance. The FBI even went around to my childhood neighbors and asked questions about me, and many of those old neighbors hadn’t seen me in 10-15 years.

It was for a fingerprinting merit badge followed by me letting other scouts do my prints later on for their badges.

The merit badge and book were sponsored by the FBI from what I remember and the forms were also provided by them. To complete the requirements you sent in an acceptable number well-taken complete print sets with all of the information filled in.

I’m not sure if the badge is even awarded anymore, my part in it was 50 years ago.
