Kevin Ward, Jr. Had Enough Marijuana in His System to Impair Judgment; Tony Stewart Not Charged

By: Jason Lisk 9 hours ago

Tony Stewart will not be indicted by an Ontario County (NY) grand jury in the death of Kevin Ward, Jr. Stewart’s vehicle struck Ward after Ward exited his own vehicle on the track and walked toward the middle of the race track at Canandaigua Motor Speedway on August 9, 2014

Way to go Tony! I love you!

A little gay, but still an embarrassing, epic fail.

You have been quite entertaining. Thanks.
(there is no way you are Texan, what's with the name?)

I have no idea what you are talking about. He wasn’t doing anything differently than the cars that passed before him. The kid walked further down the track to yell at Stewart. He had no business being there. If the kid didn’t act stupidly, there would not have been a problem. He made a fatal mistake.

Of course, Matt Kenseth was going slow - he was on pit road which has even slower speeds than a caution. Kenseth's swerve is barely detectible because Stewart isn't dumb enough, even when angered, to get right into a race car's line of travel.

I'm no fan of Tony Stewart, primarily because of the anger issues he had early in his career. However, there is NO evidence to suggest that he did anything criminal in the Ward incident. Was he negligent in driving too high on the track, going too fast, not responding quickly enough? Even if Stewart was (and you seem to about the only one who thinks so), a grand jury found nothing criminal in his actions, although apparently the grand jury should have asked you to read Stewart's mind.

Auto racing is inherently dangerous. Anyone who participates knows that. Act stupidly and risk increases exponentially. Kevin Ward's death was a tragedy but wrongly prosecuting someone without clear evidence only compounds the tragedy.

Fortunately, we don't do prosecution of a person in this country because YOU don't like them.

It was covered in the media yesterday, evidence (enhanced video, grid overlay review) showed Tony did not swerve into Kevin.

His car swerved after he had already hit Kevin.

Ward was driving a race car and could have killed someone else.”””

Let’s think this out a little further:

Did the parents who were bankrolling this racing team know that their son was using pot? Any amount of Pot? Enough to IMPAIR HIS JUDGEMENT???? Did they condone this??

How about any other members of the team??? Any of the mechanics?? The guy who drives the rig to the racetrack??? The mechanic makes a mistake & the car is out of control.......Any number of things can go wrong.

There is a wide range of questions that are buzzing around my head over this.

The family is threatening more actions—and is pissed that “things are NOT being focused on their son”.

Would it have made ANY difference whether the driver he walked into had been Tony-—or one of his home town pals? He was waling into traffic on a dark track in a dark driving suit & he was IMPAIRED by drugs!!!!!

Was this kid a hot head in other ways? Did he lose his temper & make faulty moves in the past?

IF I were the parents of this kid, I would be pretty damn quiet by now & I wouldn’t be acting like being high on POT in a field full of racing vehicles isn’t any big thing. I would be severely rethinking a civil suit. That would mean that any & all actions of this kid would be brought up in open court.

I certainly hope that every single racing sanctioning body takes this seriously & makes drug tests mandatory & random without notice.

It is a sad remark to have to make, but this kid could have crashed into the crowd & taken out a whole lot of people....who were only there to enjoy the evening.

All of this highlights my concerns about ‘medical pot’ and ‘recreational pot’ being allowed....anywhere at anytime.

Sooner or later, the car accidents will climb up & the insurance companies will be raising their rates again. It already is somewhat dangerous to drive in the USA, but this opens a whole new chapter of trouble.

That’s the problem. Tony shouldn’t have been speeding. The race was under caution. “””

I don’t know how much you know about racing. I suspect very little I have been around many kinds of racing since I was 17 & I am just short of 75.

Yes, the caution flag was in place——on a track where the caution flag is thrown ONLY at the start/finish line. Cars still ‘race to the flag’. Normal & standard. Nothing about that was one little bit different that evening.

When Tony got the yellow caution flag, he was at the start/ finish, and he WAS SLOWING DOWN, along with the other drivers. These cars don’t slow down like a dropped stone. They are SLOWING DOWN. They don’t go into a lower gear-—there isn’t even a clutch in those cars. They are push-started in gear. The accident against the kid was just coming out of turn 2 or so. That is JUST PAST the start/finish line. I think that was a 1/2 mile track, so drivers are concentrating on slowing down & not hitting the car in front of them & not getting hit from behind.

They certainly ARE NOT looking for a PEDESTRIAN on the track surface!!!!!!

I am sorry that you do not have any background in racing. It is a sport that provides many innovations for the general public & also for the early days of the Space program in the USA. Even the parachutes which brought our early capsules back into the ocean were made by a company that made drag racing parachutes.

IF Tony had been speeding, as you say, then Tony WOULD HAVE HIT THE CAR IMMEDIATELY IN FRONT OF HIM, as that driver was slowing down for the caution flag.

Please try & find friends of yours who can explain what I am saying in more detail. I have known a great number of drivers in drag racing, Trans Am, Can Am, Indy cars, & NASCAR. They are all competing when driving. Some are more talented than others & go far. I never met a single one who would deliberately try to hit a driver on his feet on the track surface.

The kid made a series of mistakes, and now we find out he was under the influence of pot. What a sad ending for all the time & money his family put into this team so HE could have a chance ‘at his dream’. You might be able to use POT to be an aspiring RAPPER-—but NOT a racing driver.

Tony did NOTHING wrong.

How far into the caution? 300 feet or 3 laps??? HOw many actual feet did Kenseth have to slow down to caution speed???

Is this in daytime??

Is it at night on a larger, more well-lit track?

Is Kenseth driving a car which has a LARGE WING over the top, going down the right side & OBSCURING the view in that direction?

Is Tony dressed in black at night time on a dark track???

What I see here is entirely different than the small dark track where Ward got hit.

At least make SOME effort to compare apples to apples.

You’re a complete idiot.

Perhaps your own driver’s license for your car should be reviewed.

Have you ever read the Psalm 37 that someone posted on your profile page? Here are some fun parts:

Favorite Psalm

Psalm 37

1 A psalm of David. Don’t worry about the wicked. Don’t envy those who do wrong. 2 For like grass, they soon fade away. Like springtime flowers, they soon wither.

7 Be still in the presence of the LORD, and wait patiently for him to act. Don’t worry about evil people who prosper or fret about their wicked schemes.

8 Stop your anger! Turn from your rage! Do not envy others— it only leads to harm. 9 For the wicked will be destroyed, but those who trust in the LORD will possess the land. 10 In a little while, the wicked will disappear. Though you look for them, they will be gone.

Wow. Are you people still at it? Don't you have jobs?

I see your point, though. Tony Stewart ran over Kevin Ward because he was worried Ward was going to punch his lights out.

Dang. I would've loved to have seen how that defense went over in court.

Ah, well. Tony decided to be judge, jury and executioner so we'll never know.

Actually—NO. Retired.

Am now almost 75 & have followed racing since I was 17.

I know more racers than you can ever hope to know. You have proved to the world here on FR that you know nothing about racing at all.
