Refugees in U.S. state drawn to welfare, jihad
WDN ^ | Sept 5 ,2014 | LEO HOHMANN

Over the course of two decades, the federal government’s Refugee Resettlement Program has forcibly infused the Minneapolis-St. Paul area of Minnesota with a large dose of Somali culture, and the transition has not always been smooth.

Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn., told WND that while many of the Somali transplants have been hard-working citizens, the experiment has been costly for her state. And too many Somalis remain dependent on public assistance.

“We have the largest population of Somalis in the United States, and Somalia is a failed state. It is based on piracy for ransom and fraud,” Bachmann said.

“It is a country of desperation, with an economy of the stone-age period, not developed like the United States, and so tens of thousands of Somalis have been lifted out of a completely different situation and dropped into Minnesota. They have been brought here in many cases by Catholic Charities and Lutheran Social Services and made homes here, but the problems of radicalization have come to Minnesota as well.”

While any refugee entering a new country might be expected to need some government aid, Bachmann said problems arise with the culture of dependency that many Somali families have settled into. There have been ongoing issues with radicalization as well, as young Somalis have been targeted by preachers of Islamic jihad, drawing them into foreign terrorist networks such as al-Shabab in Somalia and ISIS in Syria.

Two Somali men from Minneapolis-St. Paul have died recently fighting for ISIS, and several Somali women have reportedly left their homes in the area to join ISIS. The FBI says up to 25 Somalis have left to fight with Islamic militants in the Middle East since 2007.

“That’s not to say every Somali that has come into Minnesota is a bad person,”

We’ve seen those problems before in Minnesota, we’ve had young men wielding machetes in the streets, we’ve had a number of demands for footpaths at community colleges and demands that food be changed at various public schools to be in accord with Islamic tradition. Why would many of these folks want Sharia law in Minneapolis-St. Paul when Sharia law is what drove them away from Somalia to America ?

Ignorant 3rd worlders. A perfect match for a 1st world society and liberals with guilt complexes.

Catholic Charities brought them to Minnesota. Why didn’t they bring the Christian refugees instead. Catholic Charities is right now building apartments for 1000 migrant workers in my town of 6000. I wish they would think things through. There are already driveby shootings and gangs. Now we’re going to be little Mexico.

It’s what immigrants do. You flee the old country because its a dangerous cesspool. Finally, you arrive somewhere safe. But, after a few years, you get nostalgic and start trying to recreate the hell-hole you left.

Of course, previous waves of European immigrants did this much more benignly.

That’s what internment camps are for.

“Catholic Charities brought them to Minnesota.”

My Aunt is complaining about them dumping boatloads of Somalis in Nashville, Tn. What are Catholic Charities gaining by doing this?

During the Vietnam boat refugee invasion in the late 70's, a friend of mine was dating a Vietnamese girl, she has a few relatives who were refugees...

One day maybe after her brother was here maybe two weeks he drives up in a brand new Chevy Camaro...

So I ask my buddy how in the hell can he afford to buy a brand new car?

I'm driving a old beater...

The government gave him a voucher for $10,000 to buy a GM vehicle...

They WILL get jobs with those employers who want CHEAP LABOR.

MOST, or at least many of them, KNOW they can't be fired because the 1st world society (the West) and liberals (many of whom STILL control the media AND the Mexican government--through pamphlets they distribute to ALL) told them so...over and over and over and over and over and over again.
They WORKED on the PHONY guilt complex.
Did YOU ever believe their baloney? I probably did in my gullible youth. I'm old now and almost always incredibly annoyed with the mainstream ANYTHING. They know NUTHIN'!!

As you nailed it: a perfect match.

TRUE ENOUGH! The recreation is ALWAYS flawed, maudlin and filled with the very things/people from which/whom they STRUGGLED to escape. STUPID stuff, almost always.
My mother's relatives escaped because they didn't want to serve in the NEVER-ENDING wars in northeastern Europe. They were, essentially, draft dodgers.

Of course, previous waves of European immigrants did this much more benignly.
I would think so.

****** Lol. How long do you think it will take the usual "except" FReepers to log on and tell you how WRONG you were and how THEIR European relatives were SO, SO, SO much different than what we discuss here?

Somalians are a disaster wherever they live.

You would think that the fact of their Failed-State-Pirate-Lair homeland would be a clue to policy makers who decide to let them in.

(But that presupposes patriotism and decency among policy makers)

It’s not just foreign immigrants. Refugees from NY and CA do the same thing.

I really haven’t a clue. Makes no sense to me, especially when we’ve been leaving persecuted Christians in places like Iraq for years. George Bush was supposedly a Christian and he didn’t lift a finger for those people either. I used to rant and rave about it but no one paid any attention so I stopped.
