Newt Gingrich says this is the single most ‘damaging thing the Bush family has done to politics’
TheBlaze Books ^ | 7/23/2014 | Benjamin Weingarten

Halper believes that the Clintons’ effort to in effect keep their friends close while turning enemies into friends has been a masterful and hugely overlooked part of the rebuilding of their machine:

"What has been little understood in the past decade, from 2001 to the present, is how successfully the Clintons undertook a systematic, comprehensive, and sustained effort to win over leaders in the GOP, especially figures who were once the biggest critics. In return, both Clintons were able to develop a bipartisan, statesmanlike image that had eluded them through eight years in the White House."

Don’t even want to read this before declaring “Stay out the Bushes” to borrow from racist Jesse Jackson.

Doesn’t Newt and Juan MeCain have the same position on Amnesty?

I never understood it and in fact looked at it as a betrayal. The Clintons never repented of anything and until they do, spurn, baby, spurn.

Pretty sure the whole Iraq thing was worse actually.

The headline says Bush, but the excerpt says Clinton. Not bothering with the rest.

So post-presidency photo ops with Bill Clinton was the worst thing the Bush clan ever did - and that's why Hillary will be the next president.

Interesting, though idiotic, theory.

I disagree. The worst thing the Bush’s did was to set the table for Obama to work his “magic” on the nation. Remember that he did not fire the Justice Department Clinton appointees as he should have. As a result, Holder has an entrenched bevy of experienced leftists at his disposal. How important is that now? In retrospect, they tried to give themselves some cover, but folded like a wet dishrag at the first objection.

The Bush’s postured themselves to look like an alternative, but I am convinced they are essentially the same as all post-Reagan presidents . . . Obama is just a more radical and in-your-face Muslim/Commie/LGBT supporter.

The nation has to move on from both Clinton's and Bushes. If we're still in one piece after zer0, we need to do a lot of repair to this country.
That won't happen if there is DNA from either of them even close to the White House

I have never understood why the Bushes pal around with them, I don't understand why they don't say something about Obama either.
In my opinion they have a duty to speak up, they asked for support and they got it. Well it would help if they returned some favors. The nation is in serious trouble and they could command the stage easily.

This has puzzled me too. When GWB left the White House, he was in front of a crowd in Texas and he was asked about his failings with Katrina. He said "Hold on!" and in two or three minutes laid out all the criticisms and without trashing anyone else, laid out how his administration had done more than any other administration in the past for any other disaster, regardless of what Shep Smith or Jerry Rivers had to say.

I was watching with my mouth hanging open, thinking 'Where has this guy been?' Alas, except for that one appearance, he went dormant and got out his paint brushes. I still wonder 'How come?'
