This “microaggression” is such BS. Everything that can possibly seen as no perfect to a grievance group is a purposeful insult.
About a dozen years ago, I had a kid who had a overly PC English teacher. She was into exactly this sort of “anti-racism”. She saw problems everywhere—for example, why aren’t there more brown-colored bandaids? My kid really ticked her off by saying it’s a marketing decision—because in some of the Caribbean islands, the bandaids are all brown. Not a white-flesh-colored bandaid to be found. “How do you know” she asked, assuming he’d been pumped up by his parents. “We were there on vacation over Christmas.” End of that discussion... but there were always others.
“micro-aggression” doesn’t really exist,
except in the minds of the “hyper-sensitive”.
I don't care whether this is meant to be parody or not, a navel-gazing debate about whether small moisturizer bottles in hotels is micro-agression racism is damn funny.
Speaking as a former Chief Engineer in da hotel biz, and hearing the Head Housekeeper kvetch about the ruined pillowcases from all the goop [Afro Sheen, etc.] them folks use, we’d have gladly given them as many of those little bottles they’d have needed to wash that stuff out before they’d crash out. Micro-aggression, my ass. It was like Tammy Faye Bakker slept face down in full makeup, left an image, almost. Sheesh!
What about the snacks in the vending machines, or the drinks in the soda machine, or the music playing in the lobby and elevators, or the restaurant downstairs?
What about the continental breakfast and the free coffee and room service??
White sheets, pillow cases, comforters, drapes, toilet paper......
HOW MUCH MORE RACISM WILL WE OVERLOOK FROM THESE GUILTY INANIMATE OBJECTS, IT’S GOTTA STOP
The housekeeper who prepares a hotel room for that evening’s guests has no idea the race of the occupants, and frankly neither does the hotel. There is nowhere to designate one’s race on an online reservation website. So is the hotel supposed to stock two different sets of toiletries in preparation? I always take my own toiletries and always thought those sample sizes were there for the guests who had forgotten something.
Do black people wash their hair every day like white people do? I’m curious. Also, don’t black ladies wear lots of wigs? Finally, if I lotion my whole body from head to foot, couldn’t one assume that I would bring a gallon (or at least a quart) of moisturizer with me wherever I go?
How about bring your own? Problem solved.
Using the word “micro-agression” is a form of micro-aggression.
Ahh, the Grievance Mongers are back...
We’re way overdue for a housecleaning.
Would they prefer hotel REAL poo?
I have very long hair. The amount of shampoo in a hotel sample isn’t enough,,I need two or three. So I just bring my own, along with a toothbrush, toothpaste, and facial soap.
It’s not a big deal. You can get 3 oz bottles for 3 for a dollar at the dollar store. Fill them up with shampoo, conditioner, or liquid soap if you prefer that to bar.
Or since I don’t fly anymore, I just bring my regular stuff. Like I said, it’s really no biggie.
Is the fact that blacks have dry skin a result of slavery? If not, then why is it our problem?
Just FOAD....Really, you’re pathetic and amoral.
You need special hair products, styling gels/sprays, beard softener and particular razor???
Bring your own Shiite.
I like the products at certain hotels and other hotels I know enough to bring what I need or prefer.
You need Magic stinky goo to shave with, then bring it.
Why not say the hotel is also responsible for your peculiarities of coffee, tea, sodas or bubbly water?
The truth is you are self serving narcissist, seeking your own synthetic elevation at someone’s expense.
pay for stuff you want, go to the hotel who provides what you want or bring your own stuff...
ass holes....
I would love to see someone post this at DU and pass the popcorn.
I’d have never guessed that black people might suffer from dry skin more than whites, and need to do the whole body. But when I have special needs, I provide them for myself. I don’t expect the whole world to anticipate my needs.
Do hotels in historically black areas or with predominantly black clientele provide bigger containers of lotion?
Who cares about those long haired hippy freaks?
I've been bald since I was 23.
