The final outcome for the Senate could be anything from a minor Republican gain to a GOP romp. At the moment, the state of play seems manageable from a Democratic perspective, but the partys position is perilous. A tiny shift could tip the canoe and spill a lot of Democrats overboard.

I am hoping Trey Gowdy’s hearings will create enough outrage to push us over the top. An added bonus would be criminal charges for some of Obama’s apparatchiks.
I predict that thanks to the cretinous leadership of the GOP, we will only gain 2 or 3 seats.
A factor in determining GOP success in 2014 should be their attack and alienation of their base. Is there a historical model that considers this. I don’t remember when a political party was so openly hostile to their largest voting block. Another factor is turn out. Can the Rats pay enough people to go vote?
A tiny shift the other way could leave the Democrats with the Senate. This isn't over, not by a long shot.
Look at he above post.
Not as long as the Republicans have people like Todd opening his mouth.
RCP has it at 46-46-8. The eight tossups at RCP are:
AK: Begich (D)
AR: Pryor (D)
CO: Udall (D)
GA: Open (R)
IA: Open (D)
KY: McConnell (R)
LA: Landrieu (D)
NC: Hagan (D)
538 has these as:
AK: really even
AR: slight R
CO: D
GA: R
IA: D (get this one Joni!)
KY: R
LA: slight R
NC: really even
So, unofficially, I see this as 50-48 R with two very close races in AK and NC. We have to avoid the disastrous gaffes of the R candidates of last time.
I refuse to get sucked in by these polls and pundits. The GOPe has done nothing to reassure the people that they would do anything different even IF they win in November.
With the early offerings of the likes of Jeb, Mitt, and Paul, Harry Reid May as we’ll buy himself a few new suits, as he’ll likely be there for a while.
Imagine how much MORE of a blowout it would be if a majority of normal Americans became convinced the GOP wanted to actually represent their will?
Given everything we know today, I think immigration is going to be the issue that swings the election. The Feds are dumping these kids where voters live. When little Johnny comes home from school with scabies, people are going to get PO’ed.
Kentucky is in play, IMO.
I am thinking out loud, but, i think the GOP does not want the Senate even though Obama whats to give it to him. If the GOP has the Senate and House them during the Pres run up in 16 it becomes the rally cry. thoughts?
I agree. If the GOP does get a small majority in the Senate there are enough "moderate" Republicans who will collaborate with the Dems (McCain, "Linda" Graham, etc.) to make the majority meaningless. And not to mention the political cowardice of the so called leadership of the Senate Republicans. The Senate Republican leadership only exists to serve it own selfish financial interests and to fetch coffee for the communist Democrats.
“Imagine how much MORE of a blowout it would be if a majority of normal Americans became convinced the GOP wanted to actually represent their will?”
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
True that. However, while we did not win ALL the primaries, there are a number of races where we will be running decidedly more conservative candidates, esp if McDaniel (MS) and Carr (TN) succeed. And defeating Cantor in the House was a HUGE win for us.
It will take time, but we must push every election cycle.
Its too damn bad the GOP has decided to make it own aggrandizement priority number one over the survival of the nation.
Never lose now to think you will gain more later. Esp in politics.
Getting a majority in the Senate will make a HUGE difference in the direction of the country. Cruz will continue to grow his influence. Think ‘94-’95, and hopefully we will not cave this time. Cruz/Pence will drive the agenda. McConnell/Boehner will not be so quick to make peace with The One. They let us down because they are reeds (pun intended) in the wind. The wind will be blowing OUR way if we win the Senate.
Illegals are shifting the balance to conservatives.... well the backlash against them....
Repubs have a way of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.
Here in NC Kay Hagan should be an easy defeat.
But the dims are running anti-Tillis ads (the e-repub candidate) 24/7.
They are ‘killing’ him and only one old anti-Hagan is run occasionally.
And anti-fracking, every 30 min on TV.
If the repubs don’t get off their a$$es and counter the dim onslaught with some new material and often Hagan will get another term.
The GOP could win the senate but the GOPE is working double time to prevent this. I think you are right 2-4 seats and they lose Kentucky and Georgia through their own stupidity.
