A 41-year-old Florida man, who arrived in the country illegally in 1998, says he will ride a bike to Washington, D.C., to raise awareness about immigration reform.
Francisco Diaz, an out-of-work carpenter who lives in Homestead, says he wants to give a pen to President Obama to sign an executive order stopping deportations, and then urge Congress to pass legislation. "Despite being married to a US Citizen for 12 years, he has not been able to adjust his status," according to a release from Florida Immigrant Coalition. "Francisco's family was directly affected by the deportation of his brother-in-law. When he was detained, Francisco's niece went from being an honor student to failing in school, until she finally had to leave the country when her father was deported, leaving Francisco with no family and devastated."
Diaz says he will begin the ride March 2 and will stop in cities along the way, meeting people and visiting congressional offices. "I refuse to sit around and wait for immigration reform while families suffer," he said.

If the Feds were doing the job we are paying them to do they’d arrest and deport him. He can go back where he came from and piss and moan to his own government.
Yep, there's someone who understands the American system of government. The president decrees and THEN checks in with Congress.
One sharp cookie.
He might want to be careful. Illegals seem to have a penchant for running over pedestrians, bikers etc.
Better yet, head back to Mexico.
OK, here's your first lesson in awareness pal. See this place called the INS? Either you deal with them or get the F out of the country.
Tell the kid to watch out for black guys with baseball bats.
OK, so in this article they state he is an illegal, they give his full name and where he lives. So why isn't he being deported? My brother was deported from Austria after a few years, and he entered that country legally, but this dude has been here for the past 16 years, even has the audacity to brag about being an illegal, and absolutely nothing is done about him.
Knock yourself out. There are plenty of American carpenters out of work. You could be a freelance handyman with a little initiative, and make a modest living. No, you want to ride a bike to make a point in a country that doesn't want you. Whatever.
ICE can’t find an illegal in a well publicized protest parade and they won’t be able to find this criminal, either.
If he is really despondent over his family....he can go back and join him. Maybe some law enforcement officials along the way can detain him and encourage this

Yes its just not done that way...
If he wanted a different “status” he would have immigrated instead of breaking the law...
What sort of idiot woman marries an illegal?
With any luck he will be splattered across the highway by a drunk driving illegal alien.
She’s an idiot woman. We have bigger fish to fry..
>> A 41-year-old Florida man, who arrived in the country illegally in 1998,
He came here as an adult. He willfully and deliberately committed the crime.
>> “Despite being married to a US Citizen for 12 years, he has not been able to adjust his status,” according to a release from Florida Immigrant Coalition. “Francisco’s family was directly affected by the deportation of his brother-in-law. When he was detained, Francisco’s niece went from being an honor student to failing in school, until she finally had to leave the country when her father was deported, leaving Francisco with no family and devastated.”
If poor Francisco is so devastated then why doesn’t he return to his country? Because he’s spinning a sob story lie.
>> “I refuse to sit around and wait for immigration reform while families suffer,” he said.
What an arrogant liar! Any suffering is due to his criminality.
Deport him.
SOB goes up U.S.1 chances are he gets run over.
Oh well.
INS still around?
Sure sounds like he is sitting around since he is unemployed
Must be tough living in the shadows...
And am I the only one who noticed he is only asking to halt deportation? In otherwords he still wants to live and work tax free (or using a stolen identity) illegally and enjoy more benefits than US citizens with none of the responsibilities.
