Necessity is the mother of invention.
I think they even sell a small waterwheel to run a small generator or alternator for charging batteries.
We’ve got four 1000 watt, fully charged batteries in the boat, one in the jeep that isn’t being used, and we can use one of them from my truck, along with the boat’s rectifier. We also have a generator and about 70 gallons of fuel, counting what is in cans and the boat. We can use camp stoves for cooking, or the wood stove. We have about fifty full cords of wood cut and split. There are a lot of flashlight batteries and wind up flashlights, plus gas lights, so I think we will get by, as long as it doesn’t last more than a couple of weeks.
...until a democrat controlled inner city starts to eat itself. Literally, and figuratively.
My guess is either Detroit or Oakland will see federal troops first. Maybe Camden or Baltimore?
Well, I don't know. Maybe we should start a "Dead Pool."
Oh, and just a Friendly reminder, the federal troops will fire on civilians. Trust me, it has happened a few times since I've been on this planet.

Pull out the gun and calmly tell them to Put the equipment down, lay down and wait until the law gets there or you will be shot.
If they do not comply, shoot them...repeatedly.
Do you have a link to solar power pumps?
This doesn’t help matters.
Coal power plants to lose up to a quarter of capacity by 2035

We see solar pumps replacing windmills around our area. Ranchers using them for livestock tanks. We live in southeastern Wyoming.

Just Google "DIY Well Bucket".
A well bucket is a device well drillers use to pull water from a well before a pump is installed.
You can buy them or make one.
“Early-on, Ill bring you over a pitcher of good vodka, dirty martinis ... got olives?”
I have black ones - I’ll get the green kind next time I go to store and put them back just for your vodka. Maybe staying tipsy is the best way to get through an emergency. We’ll do it.

Not a reconmendation. I just ran across them on day, after discussing with a rancher how most were replacing their wind powered well pumps with solar powered on. Less maintanence.
Years ago, I was giving a report to my boss regarding a family who had a cistern. He was clueless and finally had to ask why the “sister” stored their water.
Thanks for the link. When I researched a couple of years ago, they were too expensive, but it’s worth another look.
Thanks for the link. I’ll check it out. Probably still too expensive, but it is always worth a look.
I agree with your scenario, it’s quite plausible.
Basketballs. Hmmm.
A single basketball will stop five of them at once.
But then you have to have outside lights for the half-court.
You can’t make this kind of stuff up.
Years ago a friend of mine said he got his water from a well and a guy asked him why he just didn’t turn on the faucet to get his water.
What’s really scary is that both our stories were from years ago when grown people should have had at least an inkling. The adults coming up today are further removed from such. Just think of how many will be totally clueless when the light switch doesn’t magically make light and they can’t post their befuddlement on facebook.
400+ pump at about 250 300
