Lindsey Graham’s office ‘returns fire’

Lindsey Graham’s office ‘returns fire’ after South Carolina conservatives say the veteran pol has been neglecting his home state

Conservatives fighting to thwart Sen. Lindsey Graham’s reelection are calling for South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley to organize a search for the “missing” Republican.

Releasing an ad of Graham’s face plastered on the side of a milk carton, his opponents say Graham suffers from a “severe case of Potomac Fever” and seems to have “lost his way.”

They cite Graham’s frequent trips abroad and his alleged cozying up to moderates in Washington.

The Missing campaign is the brainchild of Carolina Conservatives United, the 527 advocacy group behind the Defeat Lindsey Graham effort.

California Conservatives United South Carolina conservatives are plastering Sen. Lindsey Graham's face on milk cartons in these ads, asking the public to help find the ‘Missing’ conservative.

They claim the senator has not been seen in his home state “for most of the last two years."

“It is imperative that we find Lindsey Graham and bring him home,” Breeanne Howe, a board member of the group, said in a statement, calling on Haley to issue a "Silver Alert" - a notification system to find missing senior citizens espeically those with dementia.

But Graham’s campaign fired back, literally, in response to the claim Graham has been absent from his homestead.

The move comes in a contentious race for Senate, in which Graham is seeking his third term. Graham’s office pointed to a picture of the senator shooting an AR-15 at a gun range in Greenville, SC from last week.

The 58-year-old is running for a third term and faces Nancy Mace, the first female graduate of the Citadel, State Senator Lee Bright and local businessman Richard Cash in the GOP primary.

“If there are three opponents, it’s simply a suicide mission.”

OTOH, maybe not. South Carolina’s primary dictates that if a candidate doesn’t get 50% =1 of the vote, the top two finishers move on to a run-off to be held several weeks later.

There’s good reason to believe that Graham would be one of the the two. He does (rightly or wrongly) have a significant base of support to work with.

But if the other two candidates can gain some strength and raise some money, it’s not out of the question that Graham gets knocked off in the primary rather than the run-off.

If there are three opponents, it's simply a suicide mission.

That's not how primaries work in SC. In the first election, if Graham doesn't get 50%+, then he'll be in a run-off with ONE opponent.

Quite different from presidential primaries.

50% = 1 is wrong.

I meant to type 50% + 1

Sorry.

It's how we beat Dewhurst like a rented mule down here in Texas. ;) Dewhurst was up against 6 challengers, I believe.

I see that there are four (4) primary candidates running against Lindsey.

1. Sen. Lee Bright
2. Nancy Mace
3. Richard Cash
4. ???

I won't meet with any of my constituents but look, look, I fired a gun in South Carolina!! See, I was here!!

We've got to give Linda just a little credit. She did hold two completely scripted "telephone town halls" last week.

She is clearly chickensh!t to meet with constituents where the rubber hits the road.

It looks like he’s wearing earplugs.

The same ones he wears when listening to his constituents.

But South Carolina has a runoff. So more candidates make it far more difficult for Graham to stay above 50%. Then, similar to Texas last year, it’ll be a fight between a conservative and a moderate. And in the mean time, Graham’s vaunted “warchest” is depleted in two elections, just to get the nomination. He won’t be cruising through to reelection unpposed.

FReepers should, if they are able, support one (or more) of Little Lindsey’s challengers—with financial donations and/or volunteering of your time and efforts:

Let’s all refrain from attacking ANY of the challengers and save our fire for Lindsey Graham. Ignore TROLLS who try to instigate intramural warfare among Graham’s challengers—they are looking to advance Graham’s political interests.

Here are the challengers’ websites:

Any return fire from Linda’s office would end in the statement: “take that you big brute!”

Srsly?! I sure hope that Linda and his campaign 'experts' continue to be this lame throughout the primary!

It does fit with the inauthentic dork profile of their loser candidate.
