The Boston bombers were planning more attacks across the city and were already building the bombs to do this says the city's police commissioner Ed Davis.
Davis says it's his belief that 19-year-old Dzhokhar Tsarnaev and his 26-year-old brother Tamerlan 'were going to attack other individuals' — and Davis says that's based on the evidence at the scene and the cache of weapons the brothers had at their disposal.
However, Davis claims releasing photos of the two Boston Marathon bombing suspects 'forced them out of their hideout' and spurred them into Thursday and Friday's deadly night time car chaos and gun battle with law enforcement.
'It forced them out of their hideout and they decided to commit further violent acts. But it’s my belief that they were already manufacturing explosive devices. Further violent acts were inevitable,' Davis told The Boston Globe.
The suspects 'were not making those explosives for nothing,' Davis told The Globe. 'There was a plan there, and I believe that tragically Sean Collier lost his life, but he was truly protecting the citizens of the city'
Handguns, a rifle and at least six bombs, three of which detonated were found at the scene on Friday after officers had their first showdown with the Boston bombing brothers in Watertown, Massachusetts.
And it is believed that federal prosecutors are putting the final touches together on charges against Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, despite his throat wound leaving him unable to speak.
The most serious charge available to federal prosecutors would be the use of a weapon of mass destruction to kill people, which carries a possible death sentence. Massachusetts does not have the death penalty.
CBS News' John Miller has claimed investigators believe the wound to the back of his neck is evidence that Dzhokhar attempted to end his own life.....

I’ll guess that he shot himself with a .380 or a 9mm. Neither one are known as being particularly efficient. yes, you’ll bleed out eventually but not as quick as with a .45 wound.
If the gun was angled he could shoot through his neck without hitting his spine. Most of the large veins and arteries are in the front half of the head.
He had already been in the boat at that point. The cover was ripped off when he was laying down inside the boat.
I don't think that is him climbing into the boat.

Perhaps, yes perhaps.
What gets me about this attack is the James Dean-style game of chicken element about it. The Boston Marathon is heavily defended by hundreds of cops. These guys carried out the attack right under their noses. McVeigh parked a vehicle in front of the Federal building like every other visitor. James Holmes attacked a movie theater full of civilians. The Bali bombers hit a nightclub where the toughest resistance might have been the unarmed bouncers. The 9/11 attackers hit planes full of civilians.
Another point is that the Chechen brothers did not go house to house blasting away at civilians. They carjacked a guy and let him live, which allowed the guy to alert the cops. My sense is that while they, as Chechens, had the inborn temperament of stone killers, something held them back in a way that did not occur with other spree killers or Islamist terrorists.

I think these guys were raised in the US and really didn’t have a true jihadist mentality. Especially the younger one.
Yeah...they did the deed, but weren’t able to follow thru with the rest of the story.
That's another thing that gets me. No religious Muslim commits suicide - it's a Do Not Pass Go, Do Not Collect $200 ticket straight to hell. Suicide by cop, i.e. by pointing your gun at the cops and getting blown away, is fine. Suicide bombings against infidels are fine. The trick is either having somebody else kill you (which may be what bin Laden was trying to achieve by reaching for his weapon), or die in the act of fighting or killing the infidel. Offing yourself with a gun is not either of these.
Yeah....and even if it missed the spine....the hydrostatic pressure wave of bullet and explosive at such a short range would pop the adjacent cardioid artery (the big artery at the side of the neck....I am not an MD and neither do I portray one on TV)
Yeah...I pondered that....
all the pics of those serious looking guys with phone connections in their ears (FBI, SWAT team members in civvies, BPD etc) were all looking around AND UPWARDS.....
Seems to me there were two possible instructions for the day...
1. Look for a roof-top sniper ...
or
2. Look for an explosive bag or back-pack on the ground.

Perhaps he was already unconscious from the previous night's injuries, they knocked him out with some type of gas, or something. Or perhaps he was freshly dead and hadn't cooled yet. But it sure was odd.
And then, to climb up over the gunwale on his own efforts? And after shooting himself in the head/neck? If I had just gone through all of that, tried to kill myself, and knew I was surrounded; I would have been so tired and beat I would have thought to myself “Screw ‘em. If they want me so bad, THEY can climb up here and get me.”
The incident is just another example of why nobody should expect Muslims to finger other Muslims for crimes committed or planned. A safe and free USA is a non Muslim USA.
There were pictures on the ground of him also, just remembered seeing them, someone said something about his underwear. he seem to be pretty fiesty still and do not remember seeing blood.
The guy had no injuries to vital organs...just loss of blood that weakened him...his ‘foot’ was the only other shot. the picture shows the side of his face that wasn’t injured by his shooting his neck. If you look at the one photo when he was on the ground only the side shot is bleeding.
Lots of fake bullits were shot at the boat.
