Perhaps Loki was onto something

In the hit 2012 movie The Avengers, the Norse trickster god Loki threatens a crowd and makes them kneel before him as he delivers a speech about what he thinks of the human race.

“Is this not your natural state? It’s the unspoken truth of humanity, that you crave subjugation. The bright lure of freedom diminishes your life’s joy in a mad scramble for power, for identity. You were made to be ruled. In the end, you will always kneel.”

As I was watching the movie, I was properly outraged at the character’s assertions. I remember thinking that he was going to be surprised at the fighting spirit inherent in the human race.

But as I sit here tonight watching the Democrats across the country systematically stripping away the self-defense rights of their ‘subjects’ one state at a time and being praised by their sycophants for doing so, I am made to wonder … perhaps Loki was right after all … at least where some humans are concerned.

There seems to be a subset of humanity that does indeed crave subjugation, even in America. We call them anti-gunners. They cower and whimper in fear whenever faced with the responsibility and cost of freedom. Instead they beg for the safety of a prison and the ‘protective’ hand of an all powerful government.

So how do we deal with a nation divided between those who would be free and those who would rather seek the safety of servitude?

In truth, I honestly do not know. I just do not know.

I can only continue to believe that the spirit of individual freedom, responsibility, and exceptionalism has not perished from the face of the Earth.

I will leave you with the words of Samuel Adams, spoken over two hundred years ago and yet still so very apt … “If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.”

I cannot believe how many people are THANKING the Dems for taking away their rights. :(

Now if only the Hulk would grab Obama and fling him around like he did Loki ...

“Puny Kenyan!”

The cost of freedom is never free, often measured in blood & lives, but always worth the price.

A people who would give up a little freedom for security deserve neither and will loose both

W used to speak about how people all over the world wanted freedom and democracy. I appreciated his attitude, but honestly, I don’t think that positively about us.

I think we want to dominate, or alternatively, we want some one we can blame who we can expect to take care of us (we are largely adult babies).

Very few have thought things out in re: what is right, wrong, best, important - very few want liberty and justice FOR ALL.

We should, but we don’t. History proves it.

Good grief, this stupid country just elected a law-mocking socialism-loving pseudo-American. Twice.

Loki was responsible for The Incredible Hulk being hated by his countrymen. Loki made an illusion of dynamite on a railroad bridge and The Incredible Hulk leapt on the tracks to take it off; however, the railroad tracks broke. The Hulk then held the railroad tracks so the train would not go off of them and kill the passengers.

But the populace was enraged anyway and The Incredible Hulk was hunted ever since. All due to a nasty trick of Loki.

Sure he was right. look how many people on the most supposedly conservative site on the net scramble/d to their knees and condemned those of us who refused to join them over Romney and all the other 100% Democrat/liberal things the GOP does daily.

People say “Oh it’s stupid to look to movies for wisdom.” Well, there are some uncomfortable truths spoken in movies that people can say there that they can’t in real life. SciFi uses that to great advantage. Perhaps more people should think more deeply about it.

"There seems to be a subset of humanity that does indeed crave subjugation, even in America."

I don't think "subjugation" is the correct word. The takers (low info peoples) don't know that they are being subjected to their Fedgov for what they believe are freebies.

They just don't understand the benefits of capitalism and reduced regulation and smaller government that encourages their freedom and capabilities to grow beyond Fedgov imposed control. They just don't care, as long as they get their welfare, food stamps, and Obama-phones. "Subjugation" is not even in their vocabulary.

On this terrible day that we lost a true liberty loving leader, Margaret Thatcher once said, "The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other peoples' money". The so-called "subjugated" can't understand that simple historic principle. History is full of examples and yet we are seeing it unfold in Europe, and now here.

My prediction: The Western world is going down. Too many reasons to list, but I'm glad I grew up and lived in a time of liberty, self-accountability, self-reliance, and honor. I will ever be thankful for those who came before me and gave me that opportunity. I will also despise and fight against those who don't get those simple virtues that made this Nation the envy of the World.

My prediction: The Western world is going down.

The good part is that freedom eventually springs from the detrius of socialism. The former CCCP is not like it was in the 70s.

Not really. The people pushing the new world order stuff in the movie are clearly the villians. And after Loki gives that kneeling & subjugation speech to a crowd of Germans,, Captain America shows up, compares him to Hitler, and is in the process of fighting him mano y mano when he is joined in the fight by Mr. Capitalism himself,,Iron Man.

Later, the Hulk meets Loki, who rudely opines that he is a God, and that he will not put up with something from the Hulk, who is a lowly creature. And the Hulk slams him until he is imbedded in the pavement.

Good pro-America flick. It’s overtly opposed to the modern model of government.

>"There seems to be a subset of humanity"

According to the Word, there are several subsets/tribes with distinctive traits.

PC equality is just another pathetic lie.

It reminds me more of something much older. The Brothers Karazamov and The Gand Inquisitor.

de·tri·tus (d-trts)
2.a. Disintegrated or eroded matter: the detritus of past civilizations.

Interesting word you use. Yes, I understand that some societies have "eroded" and come back, but that's rarely the case. Plus, we are in a different era. Western civilization has become too concerned about "feelings" and political fall-out when confronting its enemies. We no longer fight to win; we fight to minimize aggression. It is a failing strategy (think Korea, Viet Nam, Iraq, Aftganiscrap).

As I said, Germany, Italy, and Japan learned a lesson from no holds barred warfare. They have been our Allies since.

I think it is time to go pro-active with North Korea and with Iran, especially in this day of nukes. If the NORKS were liberated from their silly little Kimfatboy and his loyal generals (which I don't believe many), I'm sure that the populace would be happy to have some friggin food and extremely happy to join South Korea. Think of the resources and opportunity those starving people would have.

If the pro-west Persians were liberated from their extremist Muslim dictatorship, they could be productive citizens of the world. Persians are very smart. I know, because I've talked with them.

That said, I have NO belief that Arab Muslims will ever want anything other than to destroy. They relish blood and are taught that from childhood. I've read to much over too many years about them.

So, what to do? Kill the NORK leadership. Kill the Iranian leadership. Do it now before they can kill us.

“So, what to do? Kill the NORK leadership. Kill the Iranian leadership. Do it now before they can kill us.”

I lament the fact that our current generation, as a whole, does not possess the values of the “greatest generation” that judged and executed tyrannical criminals like the German and Japanese leaders of WWII.

My grandfather served in the 7th ID in WWI, and my father served on the troop transport Jackson (APA-18) and the minesweeper Strive (AM-117) during the Korean war.

Thank you for your service, Navy Vet.
